Is this potentially a marketing move for kids who are potential one-and-done's? I mean, you have some coaches now going on record saying they don't want to recruit them, and then you have Barnes saying we'll enshrine you for just one season.

I'd like to nominate Braswell's "palm dribble," where he did that weird, fake crossover move, and then put his hand on the other side of the ball and go the opposite direction. Anyone else know what I'm talking about?
A close second is the unnecessary spin dribble by a recent transfer.

I'm confused. Are Dominic and Maurice Cheek the same person? I went to the link and saw Dominic at #11. Is this some kind of play on words joke with Mo Cheeks that I'm not getting?

the dagger's dagger versus UNC. I was just watching highlights from that game. And as crucial as JWall's 3 was, Jr's rebound at the end of regulation is just as big to me. That brick looked like it was going to be a gift for Hansbrough, but Ewing skied out of nowhere to grab it. I know it's not a given that Hansbrough would've gotten the ball, or that he even would've been able to make a basket, but that rebound gives me chills every time I see it.

I thought Wesley Wilson was the one tearing it up in the Philippine league...

I am by no means calling him the best 6th man (and maybe he wasn't even a 6th man), but I remember being pleasantly surprised with A. Perry when he started coming off the bench. Seem to remember his shot falling a little more, or maybe it was just that there were less expectations by that point.

Pitino being the definitive coach he is--has "opened the door" for Caracter to return--which means he basically took a look at his roster and said "I need this guy to compete for a National Title" this season. . I know Louisville is a good team with very good talent, but I just don't see this team being a national title contender without Padgett. I remember thinking they looked lost last year when he wasn't on the court. I know Samuels is supposed to be good, but who's going to run that offense. Sosa? Never been too impressed.

So who is the worst? (since we seem to be asking those kinds of questions this July). For me, it's Vitale. I'm not even sure if you can call him an in-game commentator, though, because the guy never really actually talks about the game he's covering. He just makes hyperbolic statements about coaches, players, and anything else that distracts you from the game. He also has the very annoying tendency to equate outward emotion with passion. To him, Bruce Pearl, Calipari, Pitino, etc., are the best coaches out there because they sweat a lot, and yell. Same with players. He also NEVER lets the game play out. I feel like some of the best announcers know when to shut up and let the suspense of the game just be there. People always talk about his enthusiasm for the game, but if that manifests itself with total verbal diarrhea, then I don't care.

According to Miami Herald--expect CBS to announce tomorrow that Billy Packer has been replaced as the lead basketball analyst at CBS by Clark Kellogg. Packer will work the ACC games he does during the week--but Kellogg is getting bumped to #1 team with Nantz and will call Final Four--with Greg Anthony a possible replacement for Kellogg in the Studio with Greg Gumbel and Seth Davis. I like Kellogg well enough, but it should be all Gus Johnson, all the time. "I just realized something. Is today March 1st? Buckle up!"

Jon had the three to send us to overtime against UNC and the clutchest free throws I've ever seen in person on the road against Marquette. True. I almost vomited myself just watching that free throw from the comforts of my own home. Granted, it was just a free throw, but that was one of the biggest pressure free throw ever.

This is Maurice Clarett Part II--just hope it doesn't end up the same for Jennings. I think he'll regret this, but we'll see--maybe he'll become the next great thing, just don't buy it.
Curious as to why people think this is a bad decision. Is the level of play in professional European leagues a drop off from NCAA's? Can't he stand to actually improve more in this setting rather than Arizona (and actually make some money...leagally)?
I really don't have a strong opinion, but was wondering what people's takes are.

4am: 2001 Georgetown at South Carolina
I am drawing a blank on the above game. I think I was abroad. Was this a good win at the time?

How many home games are there? I just got the renewal packet as well, lost my young alumnus status, and trying to figure out what I can afford.

To add a very small cent to this discussion, I think many of us in "Generation Burton," to borrow a problematic phrase, would put Demetrius Hunter's dunk on Eddie "DWM" Griffin of Seton Hall on 1/18/01 as the high water mark of the Escherick era. We were young and stupid then, but it felt as though that team was really going somewhere. Seton Hall was, at the time, a highly regarded team, and we were taking it to them on national TV. It seemed like that young nucleus was primed for a nice 2-3 year run. We all know what actually happened, of course, but at the time - magic. For those of us unlucky enough to have never seen a Thompson coach - we'll always have that dunk. I too remember that Demetrius dunk with great fondness, dailey. I used to have that clip on my computer until it died. The beuatiful thing about it was that I think Seton Hall was playing a zone, and Griffin was well established under the rim. But the good times after that posterization quickly vanished later that week when Pitt's Julius Page dunked all over Boumtje in a home loss. Oh... and I prefer "Generation Samnick":
