Met Bernard Muir last night and I have to say I am thoroughly impressed. Firstly, there was a great turnout (prob. about 60-70 people). He spent about 10-15 minutes talking to a group of 3 of us and he is exactly what the program needs. He is open and receptive to fan's ideas, has lots of energy, and is trying very hard to move things in the right direction.
With regard to the on campus arena he said we are moving in that direction and that we are closer now than we've been in a long time.
All this on top of a great performance by the team, I'd say things are definitely looking up.
Bernard agrees, this next stretch against 3 ranked teams is HUGE...lets keep it rolling

I will be at the DePaul game tonight...we better [bleep]-in WIN
I still think the seeds have to fall right and we still need to play well to get to the sweet 16...its not a lock but it might not be "if everything falls right"...prob somewhere in the middle

In today's sports nation chat Fraschilla took a question about how far the Hoyas can go this year...
the answer
"they were sneaky good, until they beat Duke. Now people know they are a legitimate top 20 team. The former high school teammates Cook and Bowman. I like the size inside. John Thompson III's Princeton style offense is a little more uptempo than his mentor's, but it is a great way to use their athleticism to spread the floor. This is a team that could get to the sweet 16 if everything falls right."
Sweet 16 seems a little more reasonable than Final 4 or Final 2 as some other ESPN analysts suggest.

Speaking of next year, WHERE are the minutes going? Green, Roy, Ewing Jr., Egerson, Macklin, Summers...good luck JT3 figuring out the rotation...I have total faith in him making it work though.

Was Sean Dockery's (yes from Duke) half court prayer to beat Va Tech early in the season.
This is one thing that hasn't been talked about in the afterglow of Saturday is that if Dockery doesn't make that shot, we wouldn't have beaten the UNDEFEATED, #1 ranked dEVILs. Sure beating Duke would still have been great, but it might not have gotten us quite as much national attention if Duke already had a loss.
Just a thought.

Your thinking here is a little flawed...look at the teams involved in these games.
From the ACC side 3 of their 4 wins are by the top 2 teams in the ACC (Duke and NC St) over bottom tier Big East teams
On the flip side, none of the Big East wins are by any of the top 3 teams in the league and they have beaten the top 2 ACC teams
In that respect the Big East wins have been more impressive than the ACC

Thank you Illadelph for putting things in to perspective...we have't exactly been Mariano Rivera-esque at the end of games (see Duke and ND). There's a reason everyone says take it one game at a time...b/c it works! We start looking ahead, I have NO doubt we will get picked off by a team everyone expects us to beat. Slow and steady wins the race.

Gave some love to the Hoyas in today's edition: Top 25 Debuts: Earned it! Tennessee made its debut at 19 (wow, not even a stop in the 20s) after edging Florida; G'town entered at 21 after that shocker win over Duke. Some good props for the Big (B)East as well: Big East rules: 7 of the Top 25, including new No. 1 UConn, No. 6 'Nova and Quickie fave WVA vaulting to No. 9. If the Big Ten and SEC merged, they still wouldn't be as strong as the new B'East. See the whole thing at sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/quickie

Despite missing out, it is a big step in the right direction...we are at #27, we havent been that high in a looooong time. 2-0 this week should vault us in to the top 25

WOW thats what I would call a ZZZIIIIIIIIING...the sad part is he doesn't even always play one on TV. Brandon (and the team in general) plays to the level of competition, up (think UConn) or down (think USF). If ever there was a time for senior leadership, its now, against the team with the best senior leadership in the country . Say what you want about Reddick, but the team feeds off of him. Interestingly, I think Bowman on JJ would be a good matchup for us. Brandon is quick enough (or maybe JJ is slow enough) for BB to stay on him and those long arms would force Reddick to shoot up over the top. I think a combo of DJ and BB would be best on JJ. If we put Ashanti or Sapp on him, JJ will torch us.

During over/under on PTI the question was over/under 2 losses for Duke. Wilbon took the over saying there schedule is too tough to go under. He then ran through the schedule and said "at Georgetown who could be ranked" and then ran off the ranked ACC teams they play as well. A nice little shout out from Willybuns. see prior thread: hoyatalk2.proboards48.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=1137692875

Today on PTI the closed with Gtown vs. Duke "who ya got" and Wilbon thought that it would be a tight game maybe OT but had Duke winning...Tony stuck with his guns and went with the Hoya upset

If you caught last nights piece on JT II and III you were in for a real treat. Gumbel asked some great questions of both father and son. JT III let the cameras in to practice, something Pops never did. Just a great segment. Talked about everything including the sensitive subject of III's wife and her fight with cancer. I'm curious as to other people's reactions yes - check this thread: hoyatalk2.proboards48.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=1137126490

I am out here in Chicago, far removed from the epicenter of Hoya Paranoia, but I was wondering if anyone can tell me if the Grey team shorts are for sale anywhere? Eastbay doesn't seem to have them and the Yates website still says "to be available online shortly" (3 months later).
