Nice thoughts on Jeff. Hard to disagree. Just because he doesn't score 20 a game doesn't mean he can't...
David. mclean, va: Hey Rick. Who do you think has a better shot of making some noise in the tourny. G-Town or UNC?
Rick Majerus: Depends on seeding. I would say Georgetown. I say Green is the best player nationally that not many people know about. He's a versatile player and his unselfishness doesn't allow him to get the credit he deserves.

Green really seems like a Majerus type of player. I guess that is obvious from his comment. Glad to see JG get some hype. I wonder if he might declare after this year, if we stay hot and win a bunch more games. He is really good.

Majerus is great. The guy knows basketball backwards and forwards, and he's hilarious to boot. A couple weeks ago, in a discussion about a certain Rudy, Rick said the words "I'm not a big Gay guy." That his co-anchors kept a straight face was astonishing - I practically wet myself.
He's right about Green, obviously. I do think his lack of one-on-one skills will hold him back in terms of draft status. He's clearly more than a system player, but the pre-draft process doesn't neccesarily reward guys who's best attribute is their passing. Like KGHoya said, Green is an NBA three, but he doesn't have that skillset as of yet. This draft does stink to high heaven though, so I'm not ready to count on him being here.

Speaking of next year, WHERE are the minutes going? Green, Roy, Ewing Jr., Egerson, Macklin, Summers...good luck JT3 figuring out the rotation...I have total faith in him making it work though.

Where is this big push to make Green a 3 next year coming from? This guy is as natural a "4" as there ever was. No way he can guard the small forwards at the NBA level. And don't get me wrong, I think Jeff is a phenomenal player.

Is there actually a difference, or do we just have two guards and two wing forwards? Personally, I agree that JG will stay in school next year, but that's basically because I don't think his game translates to the NBA yet. Green hasn't shown the handle and quickness to play the NBA-3. I think he's a poor man's Chris Webber, but he hasn't had the chance to dominate like C-Webb did at Michigan.

Well, Jeff keys the offense up top for us, whereas Brandon Bowman rarely does. I think that's basically because Jeff is good at it and Brandon isn't than whether one is player the 3 or 4. But NBA teams are going to want to see him dribble the ball more in traffic and shoot mid range shots if he's to play the 3 in the NBA. I just don't think he has the frame to be a 4 in the league - to thin and slight. Basically, if he doesn't develop his outside game he's going to be tagged a Hakim Warrick type of tweener, although with the bonus of being a great passer. He absolutely could keep up with most NBA 3's. Of course TMAC would torch him, but that's true of most people.

Love Majerus- his best line I ever heard involved him seeing Ashley Judd at a KU game......"I hope I see her one more time so I won’t have to go back to the hotel to watch adult movies." I gotta believe he got at least a slap on the wrist for that one!!!

Jeff gets to play some wing and some post. But when Roy is in, rarely do you see him and Brandon doing significantly different things. III tailors the offense to his players, but Jeff gets plenty of time out on the wing.

Alright, reason number 2344 why I love the internet. Here's a collection of profound aphorisms from Rick Majerus. And yes, I remember that Ashley Judd quote, and I remember the shocked silence of his broadcast partner. I think the guy had post-traumatic stress disorder the rest of the game. www.activejoints.com/majerus/majquotes.htmlOn why he scheduled Div. III Ripon College ... "I know the guy from Ripon, I'm from Ripon, I used to eat a lot of Ripon good cookies and I hope he brings me some Ripon good cookies. We're throwing a party for him. We're going to make a lot of money and he's going to make what he thinks is a lot of money. It's a great friendship and that's why we're playing the game." [Deseret News, 1/2/1999]

Fabulous find, nychoya3! Sad part is that I've eaten in all those Milwaukee restaurants.
That line about Bilas' polo shirt in Hawaii is classic.

Green is the perfect player for this system. He can shoot from anywhere on the court and makes excellent passes. He reminds me of bogut from last year. He played at the top of the key and could pass to anyone on the court from that position.

I remember Majerus making another quote on Green earlier this year that he thought Georgetown was a very dangerous team and that Green may be the best player in the Big East. Right now I may disagree, but hes got the potential no doubt about that.
