I know this has already been posted in the articles thread, but since we aren't allowed to engage in discussion there, I wanted to repeat it since I think its worth commenting on. Harshest criticism of BB to date, and I think its spot on. www.sportsline.com/collegebasketball/story/9176357No way we win with another subpar BB outing tomorrow, which is why you've got to be pretty cautious about picking us. He just doesn't have it.

Ouch. Let's hope BB proves the haters (me included) wrong tomorrow.

This could be the game that gets Brandon some serious looks from the NBA...

NBA scouts have had 3+ years to evaluate BB and I promise you one game will not erase the fact that he is seriously flawed. We need BB to win and he's the best we have, but his game is a mess most of the time. I love him and he's our Hoya, but I'll chug a bottle of gasoline if BB is playing on Christmas Day on ABC next year...unless it's in Topeka.
Go BB...Beat Duke.

In a draft as weak as this year's, anything can happen. One big game to prove he has the potential (which he does, IMO, despite all the flawed mechanics) might be enough to convince some GM to give him a shot. He's always been eratic and inconsistent, but he's long and he's an athlete, and he's proven that he CAN score against top college competition--not consistently, but he HAS led a big east team in scoring.
At this time last year, would anyone have thought that Shav Randolph would make the NBA? That idea would've been considered MUCH more ridiculous than Brandon making it. And Shav did it. So why not Brandon? If he finishes strong, I could definitely see him sneaking into round two. As it stands now he's not quite there, but if finishes solid he can get drafted. I'm certainly not saying it's more likely than not, but it's possible.
Big game against Duke would be a great first step.

Brandon has had NBA potential since he stepped foot on campus. He needs to show scouts consistency and improvement in several areas, but there is no doubt that he will get a serious look from the NBA. He's a 6'9" athlete who can play in the open floor and who has the ability to shoot over smaller players. That gets you a look from the NBA. Whether he will make it or not is up to him.

WOW thats what I would call a ZZZIIIIIIIIING...the sad part is he doesn't even always play one on TV. Brandon (and the team in general) plays to the level of competition, up (think UConn) or down (think USF). If ever there was a time for senior leadership, its now, against the team with the best senior leadership in the country . Say what you want about Reddick, but the team feeds off of him. Interestingly, I think Bowman on JJ would be a good matchup for us. Brandon is quick enough (or maybe JJ is slow enough) for BB to stay on him and those long arms would force Reddick to shoot up over the top. I think a combo of DJ and BB would be best on JJ. If we put Ashanti or Sapp on him, JJ will torch us.

BB doesn't play up to the level of competition at all. Cue the lowlights from Illinois and WVU. Any effort from him in those games might have made the difference.
Instead, he likes to feast on the small guy. Wish we could break down his career PPG by opponent.

If we put Ashanti or Sapp on him, JJ will torch us. Interestingly, I learned the other day that Tyler Crawford played Redick in high school, and Tyler guarded JJ for a while. According to the poster who mentioned it, Tyler did an ok job, though Redick still scored a bunch of points by games end. Just a nugget of info. If only Brandon knew how to use his size to score we'd have a nice advantage tomorrow. He's gonna be covered a lot by Redick, and he has about a 5 inch advantage. If he could use that, in the post, I'd like that match up. But since Brandon never plays in the post, I doubt it. I'm not sure how the matchup shakes out otherwise. JJ likes to hold/handcheck on defense to compensate for being a half step slower than a lot of the guys he guards. Very rarely is it ever called. If by some chance tomorrow we get some referees who feel like calling the game squarely or slightly better for the home team (as it should be, IMO), maybe we'd get lucky there.

I'd also like to see the referees call moving picks. A lot of Duke's multiple screens for Reddick involve at least one offensive foul by a guy setting the screen while in motion.

Instead, he likes to feast on the small guy. Wish we could break down his career PPG by opponent. We all have been frustrated by the potential that seems to not have been realized by BB, but he has not been known to disappear against good teams. Go to ESPN.COM and check out his game log for his Soph thru Senior years and you'll be quite surprised at some of his statistics. His worse game last year was obviously versus UCONN on the road but he averaged 14.5 and 7 boards in the other two matchups. Outside of the UCONN game last year, his only single-digit scoring games were against the following list of teams: Boston U. Rutgers Illinois Long Beach St. Oral Roberts San Jose St. I'm not here to say that he always steps up in big games, but we so often select a sample that works in our favor when attempting to prove our points as opposed to looking at the full body of evidence. At the end of the day, the worse thing that ever happened to BB was his sophomore year. He often found himself as the only one on the roster that could produce and was instantly transformed from a somewhat hesitant, passive freshman into a sophomore who had to do it all just for his team not to get blown out of the gym. I'll rest my case with the 19 and 9 that he put against those Blue Devils two years ago. We're coming on a big-time opportunity tomorrow and I'm looking for another 19 and 9 while he leads us to victory. LET'S GO HOYAS!

BB ALWAYS comes out for these type of games. he will be on jj and i think he knows he gotta step it up-he got a very long body and even if they use the most screen possible if he can get his hands up most of the time it may hurt jj

Right now, Al Czervik, wearing a Georgetown sweatshirt, needs to pull the refs aside, hand them a couple $20s and ask them to, "Keep it fair, keep it fair."

thing is though is that we all kno if we payed the refs 100 bucks we would still get homered sojust come into the games mindset that we will get homered somewhat

How about an apology, Doyel? I agree, if Doyel wants to make the statements he does... if he wants to take shots at everyone, then he should own up to it afterwards. I have no problem with his style. If he wants to take a bold style, fine. But if you call a kid out and he proves you wrong, do the right thing and admit that you were wrong.
