I say we wont be ranked, but we will sure get lots of votes. We will be top 35.

27. Duke was undefeated.
The voters won't forget us. How about the Bracketology? Well, who cares...

Iowa lost and they were 25th. Also, would it kill these people to say, "Well, Georgetown wasn't receiving votes but clearly were underrated so we'll put them in the top 25." Honestly, by what standard are we NOT a top 25 team? We oughtn't have to wait our turn for the number 24 team to lose. Give me a break.

Maybe not by the coaches, but a lot of the journalists will have seen us for the first time. They'll also buy into the argument of 'no bad losses', UTEP at 4-0 in conference play looks like a better win...
... but most important, we LOOKED like a Top 25 team yesterday. And really, it's all about the look.
I say we enter at #23.

I doubt we get ranked. I called my best friend who is coach at Santa Clara after the game. I told him that we deserved to be ranked. My friend then turn the phone over to an assistant who does the voting for SCU and says, "Make your case."
I ran through the litany of pros, obviously -- beating Duke, road wins at SJU, Oregon and UTEP. He responded, "Yeah but Oregon is no good." I said that they just beat Arizona at home. I said that SJU just beat Louisville and Pitt at home. He wasn't convinced.
I reminded him that our only losses were to top 25 teams on the road plus to a Vandy team that has already beaten Kentucky.
I said who do you have in your top 25, BC? Louisville? Syracuse? He said yes. Not one of those teams have a signature win like a Duke and nearly identical records. Still not convinced.
I doubt this guy gives us a vote and it reminds me that the whole voting thing is so meaningless.
Still it was fun to lobby a guy who will at least have a vote even if it doesn't matter. We beat Duke and for today, that is all that does.

We should be ranked. We are in, what even Dick Vitale calls, the best league in the nation. Two of the Big East teams will drop out (Louisville because they can't win in the BE and Syracuse who has proven that, well, they suck, because they got blown out by both UConn and Vill). So, when the committee looks to rank the top 25, they will look at the best league in the nation, and will see Gtown, who has only lost to ranked teams (Vanderbuilt will, or should be, ranked), by 10 pts or less. And who has just upset the #1 team in the nation. Granted, our rank may be based more on the sheer hype from the game, but I think we will be ranked.

I'd rather not be ranked. As if the ND game isn't already the world's largest trap game to begin with, the last thing we need is an additional target for them to be shooting at.

If you even consider running Louisville and Syracuse in your top 25 you need to get a good smack upside the head. Louisville - 3 losses in a row and to a SJU we beat AND a cupcake schedule for the first 10 games. 'Cuse I'll cut a little slack to (but they might be three in a row down with Pitt up next), but I bet this guy is one of the same clowns who thinks very highly of GW. But in any case, I'll take getting some votes, and not top 25. If people didn't wake up to the fact that this is a good team by our win yesterday, then fine. We just gotta keep winning and showing that we are a team to be respected. To me, the rankings have become a joke based upon favortism. It looks nice to be ranked, but at the same time, rankings don't mean jack by the time the tourney comes around.

The Sagarin ranking is now 26 - ahead of a few familiar names like BC, MD, North Carolina. The Hoyas's schedule is now ranked 63rd in the nation. Nice move up.

I'd be surprised if we're ranked. The voters are stubborn and it takes alot to change the polls drastically.
I'd rather not be ranked right now anyway. Polls are meaningless anyways. The only poll that matters even a little bit is the RPI.

Completely agree that only RPI (and maybe Sagrin and Pom) are all that matter. However, you get in the Top 25 you get a lot of extra benefits - your highlights get on tv more often, you get more national coverage, and you get buzz that can carry you into the tournament.
I'd guess - 25

I doubt we are ranked because we had no even received any votes previously. I would think Tennessee will get Iowa's spot. Who cares? If we don't win the biggest letdown game of the year on the road against ND, it will not matter. It's better to stay under the radar until we prove we can conistsently win games.

Absolutely. As its turning out, Louisville is a good win, but not something to hang your hat on right now. Pitt was a very good win. Even with Hill, they lost to Hofstra and Marist. We're 3-0 in common games, and they're 1-2. They have the SF win in common games, but we have the Duke and SJU wins. I think SJU will get votes, but we should UNQUESTIONABLY have more.
