So this question was the final one in today's chat...
"Rece, Not one ladies ? yet. Step up we don't bite, Anyways what's your take on the Hoyas? What type of seed do you have them as, and can we make a deep run? Thanks"
the answer: "Sandra, I'm not doing the women's tournament this year. Thus, I'll confess I haven't seen Georgetown. I do keep up..and like UNC, OU, Tenn and Duke as the final 4. OU wins it. Somebody tell Sherri Coale I said that. "
It was asked by someone named Sandra and she was obviously implying that Reece hadn't answered a question asked by a lady not a question about women's hoops considering our women aren't exactly making it to the Dance this year...I had a good chuckle at that one.

Seriously, I love how they put both Gtown teams in the same half of the bracket so that there couldn't be an all Hoyas final...I think we should blame Feinstein for this too

CAN WE PLEASE STOP...reading all these excuses is making me ill. Everyone wants to point to point the finger at GW for having an inferiority complex yet we are going to make up whatever excuses we can to justify that our recruiting class is better or as good as Louisville's?!?! Seriously now people. We have a good class, they have a good class. Period. End of story. Let's enjoy what we have going and wait for it to play out on the court.

Offers us an example of what NOT to say the week before the BET...
from today's article by Pat Forde:
The question is whether the sometimes-distracted Dogs can remain zeroed in the rest of the way. The only legitimate knock on UConn is that its focus can wander sometimes.
"I just think we're so talented, it's a lack of competition," said Brown, who went scoreless last time against Villanova. "I'm not saying it's a lack of great teams in the Big East, but when we get up 15, we think we're going to put another 15 up."
LACK OF COMPETITION?! SERIOUSLY?! In the Big East? If I'm coaching that team I CAN'T like seeing that in print the week before the BET.

I'm just saying, I'd be shocked if the committee wasn't at least slighty affected by the media

I'm in the moderately pessimistic camp too, that even if we win out, its a stretch to make us a 1, esp. with so many people already conceding them to Duke, Nova, UConn and Memphis/Texas...its going to be VERY hard to catapult over so many teams

I know people on this board loathe him, but has anyone read John Feinstein's new book "Last Dance: Behind the Scenes at the Final Four"? I am always looking for a good sports book and was wondering if this one is any good.

Was watching the UConn vs. 'Nova game and I believe the announcer said that the Big East is 6-1 in its last 7 games vs. ranked OOC competition. The only loss is 'Nova at Texas. One of the wins is obviously us over Duke...can anyone help me out with the other 5 Ws?

Absolutely, I hope no one uses this thread to rag on BB. He will be an integral part of the team's success from here on out. He left it all on the court today. I think a good sign was him hitting his free throws. Free throws are all mental so him making them suggests to me that he's locked in. Great win, lets finish this off strong, get to 11-5 and do some damage in NYC.

Is what ESPN's Mid Major "expert" Kyle Whelliston suggested in his blog today. Just a snippet from the entry...
"There's a conference out there that's perfect for Gonzaga, one that would give the school everything it needs: top-tier competition, constant television coverage and a cemented legacy as one of America's great programs. All it would take is a little imagination and a lot of airline miles.
The Big East doesn't seem to have any sort of size limit, and it doesn't require tackle football for membership (only half of its schools get busy on the gridiron). And officials wouldn't have to change the conference's name, because Gonzaga's campus is east of the Pacific Ocean, just like the current 16 members. Size wouldn't matter, either -- despite the "Big" in the Big East, the conference has a history of catering to little schools. Gonzaga's enrollment is roughly equivalent to Providence's: around 4,000 students.
The Big East already has stretched into the Central Time Zone with Marquette, so adding a team that plays three hours behind wouldn't be too difficult. Gonzaga's basketball team is used to travelling long distances -- flying to Hawaii, Memphis and Oklahoma to beat up on power-conference schools -- and all that extra TV money would help with the airfare. (Plus, if the Sun Belt can do Denver-to-Miami, the Big East certainly can do Spokane-to-Syracuse.)
So when you add it all up, Gonzaga in the Big East just works. Imagine how great it would be: all the Gonzaga-UConn and Gonzaga-Cincinnati matchups ESPN could handle, and a crowning achievement for one of the greatest basketball ascendancy stories of all time. Most importantly, St. Mary's and San Diego would go back to enjoying a fair shot at an NCAA Tournament bid every year."
Obviously its an absurd idea but who would've ever thought about that one!
