Go look at this for about a nanosecond and think about how much you want to win on Saturday: www.thehoya.com/sports/022404/enlarge1.cfmAnd once you get done breaking stuff, bring that emotion with you on Saturday...when that game and that streak come to die.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! HOW COULD YOU!!!!!
Seeing that picture has ruined an otherwise beautiful day for me. Now all I can think about is running across the court at some point on Saturday and knocking McNamara the f out with a swift roundhouse kick to the dome.

Nobody "normally shoots" like that, Gerry. I hate you and your family and I wish them hell.
Sexy uni's though.

somehow i knew that was going in. and my mind kept flashing back to that shot during the 2nd half of the Duke game this year - as though Gerry would show up out of nowhere and somehow throw in a rediculous shot to destroy everything i hold dear. stupid orange.
but yeah, those uni's were awesome.

also, didn't we have a foul to give during that possession?
I seem to recall second-guessing something along those lines. If that's true, I am apparently still second guessing the coaching...

Go to hell.
And no, we had six team fouls, so no foul to give.

[sarcasm]What's the significance of that photo?[/sarcasm] Most people in my Generation--the JTIII/Kurt shirt Generation--don't really have the same bubbling anger towards 'Cuse and GMac because we weren't here for that. Hoya Blue has been putting in a lot of work trying to build the rivalry and get people as pumped up to beat Syracuse as they were to beat Duke, but we're not quite there yet. I'd venture to guess that probably half of the people in the student section saturday wouldn't have any idea what to make of that picture, because we have a pretty high freshman/sophomore concentration and most of them don't know the story there. The mere sight of the photo is probably enough to pump up the other half of the student section though.

Look, who cares about the streak...at the end of the day Syracuse has to face a simple reality: Their mascot is a fruit.

ANd think of it this way: If we had won that game maybe Esh would have survived. I wouldn't have changed a thing about the 03-04 season because doing so would risk not getting JTIII.

Like I said, convicts wear orange. Orange is also the color of nuclear waste. Thank God our mascot is noble and fearsome.

But seriously, this hatred has a lot to do with tradition. If Syracuse was just another team we played each year, what the hell kind of fun is that? Lesson one in hating the Orange. Each of the following names should make you want to projectile vomit: Pearl Washington Sherman Douglas Rony Seikaly Hakeem "Over The Back" Warrick Billy Owens Stevie Thompson John Wallace (with an H) Derrick Coleman Etan Thomas Jason Hart Lawrence Moten Louis Orr Danny Schayes Carmelo Anthony Leo Rautins Adrian Autry Conrad McRae Greg Monroe Tony Scott Preston Shumpert Howard Triche Derek Brower LeRon Ellis Andre Hawkins Mike Hopkins (yes, even Mike Hopkins) Bernie Fine and of course, Mr. Magoo. And that's just to name a few. Now get to work. If it helps, say each of the names out loud and follow that by drinking some ipecac syrup.

Can't anyone dig up a picture of Charles Smith dribbling throught he entire SU team for a buzzer beater layup at the Dome? Or GRiles's last-minute 3-ball as a freshman to stick a dagger in the Orangeboys? Or Michael Jackson's incredible 30 point night at the Dome as a freshman in the mid-80's to shut up a screaming, snarling, then-NCAA record crowd? Let's get this party started!! HOYA SAXA!!

Thankfully the only thing I broke was the plastic spoon I was using to eat my Wendy's chili. Damn you, FL.
Students, you better be prepared to bring the ruckus on Saturday.
