I know people on this board loathe him, but has anyone read John Feinstein's new book "Last Dance: Behind the Scenes at the Final Four"? I am always looking for a good sports book and was wondering if this one is any good.

The NYT times killed it in its book review last week. I would think that there are better books out there. One that I thought was incredible is called Miracle of St. Anthony about Bobby Hurley's high school team. A great read.

I'm currently reading "Last Shot" A Final Four mystery by Feinstein. Pretty good so far. About a kid who wins an essay contest and gets press credentials to the Final Four. He supposedly uncovers scandal at the event, but I haven't gotten to that point yet. My son is reading "Travel Team" by Mike Lupica.

Being from NJ originally (my HS team played against Hurley's squad when I was still in school), I already put that one away...I agree tho, great read

I have it and am almost done with it .......got it from the library, and let me just say that I'm glad I didn't pay for it. It's mediocre at best and definitely not a page-turner, even for the rabid college hoops fan. I'll also admit that I don't like Feinstein, but despite this I have purchased a bunch of his books and have enjoyed some of them.
My biggesst complaint is that nearly every story is about Duke, other than some brief notes on UCLA and the recap of last year's final. It is ridiculous -- the book should definitely be titled as the history of Duke & Coach K at the Final Four. Also, as the NY Times mentioned in the review, many of the stories are ones you've heard/read multiple times from Feinstein.
I have read the Miracle of St. Anthony and it is wonderful.

I read the intro from Coach K and it's not too intriguing. It's basically like K recalling moments from his career and then interjecting things like...did I mention we're the most dominant school ever?
Even on Kornheiser he pretty much just admitted he wrote it really quick to have something out in March.

Feinstein should stick to books on golf, those are pretty good. I heard him on Kornheiser this week and he talked about going to a GW game this week. I wonder if he has botherd to show up at one of our games this year. Saturday would have been a good game for any casual basketball fan. I am sure he could have gotten a ticket somewhere.
In terms of good sports books go on Amazon and order anything by Dan Jenkins, they are not very PC but they are laugh at loud funny.

The "last night of the yankee dynasty" was a good book, i think it was by buster olney, heartbreaking for me to read, as a life long yankee fan, but a good read for a sports book.

Best hoops books: "Foul!" (bio of Connie Hawkins) and "Loose Balls" (hysterical oral history of the ABA)
