FYI- the show starts @ 3:00. I am not sure exactly when he is scheduled to call. For those of you who aren't in DC there is a stream on the website: www.sportstalk980.com/pages/listenlive.phpYou have to sign up-but it is free.

Yes, Yes he is. I forgot an "I". I am not the best multi-tasker.

Nothing of note really said, nothing you all have not heard or read before. Glad he has a week to prepare and rest his guys, tweak things. Thinks USF will be a tough game, their last of the year.

Kind of a boring interview. NYR320 and I listened to the inteview together and are in agreement that one of their questions about how the freshmen were doing academically was a backdoor into asking about the Egerson article but Thompson didn't bite on it.

I don't know. Doc isn't the kind of guy to lowball him like that. I was surprised when he used the word "academically" but I think he was trying to find a way to ask about the adjustment of the frosh in some way considering they don't get any playing time. I also appreciated that they brought up the freshmen at all which led to III giving me at least some insight concerning there playing time or lack of.

He basically said everyone comes in thinking they can or will be the next Iverson, Ewing and Reggie Williams. Then he said when these guys get a chance to play regularly maybe they wil be. But right now its a learning process that players like him and countless others have gone through in the history of the game (essentially, sit and learn when you're a frosh). Gave them props for really challenging the starters in practice and said they have handled the situation (little playing time) well and he feels very positive about their attitude. Also commented that he never goes into any season with an idea in mind of how many players to play (in other words there is no limit he has set for how many players to place in his regular rotation).

First, it will be interesting to see if there's a player turnover at the end of the season. It's understandable when a player decides that it's best for him to look for another team where he will find more PT.
Second, I don't think many high schoolers out there think that they can be the next Iverson, Ewing or Reggie. Those are special players. Sure, every class has its studs, but only 10 or less are in that Iverson-Ewing-Reggie category.
