That loser asking the questions is annoying with his Indiana agenda - he's fishing to either try to get Moses to say something negative about Gtown recruitment or somehow change his mind.

I think Lavin would be a great hire for St. John's -- his record at UCLA was good and he has the persona to make St. John's more relevant on the recruiting front.
In terms of bitter Matt Doherty the back story there is that he was dying to be its head coach when they hired Norm. Had some influential backers at St. John's pushing for him. So obviously he has not handled his rejection with class.

I was thinking the same thing -- you can play below the rim when you are a big 6'10 if you work really really hard and develop great moves and a soft touch like Samhan has.

Go Lady Hoyas. I caught the end of the game last night and they mentioned that the Hoya women watched the Men's game and came away focused on doing two things --- Defense and Rebounding.

Definitely need to dramatically improve our defense. But I agree with lic that it starts with more physical toughness -- can we steal away the West Virginia weight trainer? Guys need to live in the weight room this summer.

We definitely need more size/physical toughness up front -- not even a question.

I'll tell you one thing - I hope Gtown gets the whistle that Nova got today.

What a surprise that a Seton Hall player loses his mind -- I wonder where that comes from?

I want to win even more knowing that the WVU football coach is already marking the grave of the Big East....
“I don’t know where we’re going to land,” Stewart told the station, WTAP. “We could land, whatever, in one of maybe three conferences, the A.C.C., the SEC, maybe the Big Ten.”

Yes, you rub the bottom of the ticket and uncover Big East logos.

Pretty sure I saw Nate at MSG today walking around during the St. John's-Marquette game.

Interesting article about institutional support. “I think there’s no mystery to why Georgetown, Villanova and Marquette have had success,” said Dan Gavitt, the Big East associate commissioner for basketball. “Part is investment. The other part is an institutionwide commitment to being good in men’s basketball.” www.nytimes.com/2010/03/09/sports/ncaabasketball/09bigeast.html

I like the sounds of him -- I definitely think we could use another wing, and he seems to have good size/length for the 2/3.

Kenpom gives us 5th best chance to win Big East.... "Outside of Villanova and West Virginia, there may not be a more difficult opponent in the league than the Hoyas, especially if Austin Freeman's health is no longer an issue." www.basketballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=971

I agree with the idea that Chris would be well served developing/using a floater. He flashed it a bit last night and it was good to see. At this level you have to have this in your reportoire -- and for him it would be deadly because he has the quickness to get the step you need, just not the size to finish. On a side note, Vee has a nice floater, which is a good sign.
Overall we get in trouble when Chris tries to take over the game by himself (see 1st half run last night). I understand his desire at times to put the team on his back, but it shouldn't be his role for a variety of reasons.

I am more optimistic than you about Benimon, not ready to say mistake - but we should not be in a position where we have to thrust him into a major role. I mean effectively this is our back up big man. I know there are other player developement issues related to this, but still.
I don't mind having 1 project on the roster, even if they are not a big. But we just haven't added the bodies in quantity. No more saving schollys -- hopefully we close out '10 recuiting strong.

Bronxhoya is making some good points on recruiting, even if we don't agree with other points he is making. I fully support JTIII and don't want him going anywhere -- He's been an absolute home run (it kind of goes w/o saying), and honestly I'd give him a pass for more than a few years even if we weren't winning based on what he's done to resurrect the program.
But he's left some money on the table with respect to recruiting over the last few years. Not the end of the world, but as Bronx said you have to dominate on the recruiting front while you are hot -- and we were hot. At one point I felt we could have gotten almost anyone.
I know we got big recruits, just not enough. And I agree we took too many fliers on marginal players -- let's stick to Big East caliber players.
