Not sure if anyone has a scout membership, however it looks like this could be an impending commitment tinyurl.com/ybcpvkv3-star, previously a Marquette commit.

A closer look at Aaron Bowen -- with his HS coach from the time of his commitment to MU EXCERPTS
Had Aaron not committed, and assuming he has the kind of season you're expecting out of him, what do you think his recruitment would have been like? There's no doubt that Florida State and Miami were big on him. Especially after the word got around when he scored 41 in the district semifinal. That's when everything started taking off. He had 41 points and missed two shots the whole game. Right after then, you knew he was going someplace special. ...
What are his strengths at this point? His strength is his explosiveness, taking the ball to the hole. .. He's a better-than-average three-point shooter, but he's an extremely good penetrator.

ESPN evaluation from this past December:
Bowen is a long and lean wing that played well at the Kreul Classic in December. He has great length and can score over smaller defenders with ease. Bowen sprinted the wing in transition where he hit spot up jumpers from behind the arc or finished above the rim when ahead of the pack. He can hit the open three when set in the half court by spacing to the open area or coming off screens. He also displayed good touch and body control along the baseline when he received drop off passes created by dribble penetration. Bowen also had a presence on the offensive glass where he had a couple nice tip ins. Bowen is capable of defending both wing positions as well. He must add strength and be more consistent to take his game to the next level but he has the size and skill to be an excellent college wing.

I like the sounds of him -- I definitely think we could use another wing, and he seems to have good size/length for the 2/3.

Socut lists him as 6'4 and a SG. Anyone know what his handle is like? Perhaps this is another diamond int he rough find like our late 2009 pick ups were.
Scout describes him as: Sneaky prospect who makes his bones as a scorer. Has good size, basketball smarts and the capacity to make shots.
his listed strengths are mid range game, size for position, and upside/potential with his weaknesses being finishing and rebounding.

Sounds like somebody who is somewhat in-between what we'll have back as young guys on the wing. Bigger and more of a slasher than Vee, smaller and tougher than Hollis. All 3 of those guys are athletic. Would assume he'd mostly compete for minutes with Vee next year. Would love to see Hollis bulk up to be more of a 3/4 in the future, but have a hard time seeing that based on his size now.

This sounds like a steal this late in the process. Never seen him play live - but we could use his length and athleticsm on the wing from the clips I've seen.
Shows how far we've come under III that we are now questioning taking commitments from Top 100 players. Hope we can make this (and Abraham) happen.

Here is video of Aaron Bowen and his team (Quality Education) against another GU signee, Nate Lubick (St. Marks). Bowen is #24 in blue and Lubick is #34 in white. Bowen seems to be a baseline demon and much too quick for Nate on the perimeter. On a side note: Quincy Miller is a beast! He is #35 in blue and appears to be the 2nd coming of Kevin Durant.

Think this might be a nice pick up. IMO, they are probably trying to groom an eventual replacement for Freeman, and Bowen could be the guy. Not that he'll necessarily be as good as Freeman (very few are) but he could slide into that swingman SG/SF role that Freeman has played and that Owens played before him and probably do well. I think Kendrick was the guy they originally wanted for that spot but with him off the board a guy like Bowen makes a lot of sense.
Rivals has a pretty good video up of Bowen and to me he looks like a guy who you could easily see fitting in at Georgetown. Plays a smooth game, nice stroke from outside, and good athleticism too. Sort of an all-around player who finds ways to put the ball in the hole.
Don't think you can really call him a sleeper given that he's ranked in the top 150 and previously committed to another high major, but he's probably a little under the radar. And that's ok--as others have pointed out Marquette has had some pretty successful teams the last few years using a bunch of guys who were a little bit overlooked. Bowen might be that same sort of player. If he can put the ball in the hole he can see court time as early as next year, since this team may have only 1 really consistent scorer coming back next year (Freeman, because Wright and Clark have been streaky and guys like Vaughn, Bennimon etc aren't scorers). But I think his sophomore year would be the year where they'd really start to rely on him once Free moved on. Having the extra scholarships that we have affords the staff the opportunity to take a guy like Bowen and let him acclimate for a year before relying on him. Probably a good strategy, better than hoping to hit a homerun on some wing prospect in 2011 and then hoping he can come in and be a big contributor right away.

According to Scout, Bowen is going to be a Hoya.

anyone know why he decommitted from Marquette? The asst. coach who was close to him and recruited him took the HC job at Liberty.
