Thanks Grae! - Sweetney's comback is inspiring me.
Duke is going to have some very unhappy players.
They have Ryan Kelly, the plumlee brothers, Hairston, and potentially at least one other big time recruit that is a forward - add on that Singler might stay another yr. and if Dawkins is not a true 2 - somebody is getting screwed (beyond Olek Czyz who really has to be wondering if he'll ever see the floor).

Are they already recruiting over Josh Hairston?

It's amazing how some people forget a career filled with great games so quickly - Sapp will work his way out of the shooting slump and will be fine.

The 4th foul on Monroe that early in the 2nd half made the outcome of the game inevitable. Unless Monroe spit in the refs face you don't make that call.

If you don't think the refs played a major role in us losing you are clueless. Our best player picked up his 4th foul at the start of the 2nd half and HE WASNT EVEN IN THE GAME. That call changed the entire game - maybe we still would of lost, but it changed the whole complexion of the game.
Throw out everything else the refs did that one call is unforgiveable.

I think the way Roy is handling this is going to back fire on him. Roscoe is one of the best players in the class and Roy doesn't want to show him the respect to offer him. Roy can tell him anything he wants to, but not offering says it all.
Keep playing games Roy and in the end Roscoe will end up where he is really wanted and will be a star from Day 1 - GEORGETOWN.

I thought that student did an excellent job - with more experience he would be just as good as the ESPN U guys.

Here is the video from JT II's interview of Iverson and Wallace. Every time I see an Iverson interview I like the guy more and more - and the Hoyas hat is definitely a nice touch.

BE Football has actually been pretty good. This year the league has been down but the last 3 yrs the league has represented itself very well, especially in bowl games. Once Cuse gets a new coach that will also help the league out a lot.
Tranghese did an incredible job- the only thing he couldn't do was bring ND in for football which may be an impossible task.

"It may be misunderstood in my recent post, but I support and cheer for the Georgetown basketball team fully, except one game, which I think is pretty fair. Actually before I decided to attend Georgetown I never had anything against the basketball program, which for some reason people assumed. My brother is a 03 grad. and I have been a fan since.
-Ryan Pitino"
Hey Ryan - welcome aboard. I think it is very fair to root for your Dad and still be a great Georgetown fan.

Well I will no longer be reading the hoya. In the words of MCI, it is dead to me. What were they thinking Don't confuse The Hoya and Hoya Blue. We're OK with other opinions -- in fact, I GUARANTEE Ryan Pitino is the only person on this campus with this point of view. Feel free to disagree with him, but it is a unique vantage point. This will not hurt our team or the program or school spirit, I promise. Yeah I agree - he will probably have a different and more interesting perspective than most could provide - normally I think it is a bad idea to have a freshman do this stuff because their knowledge is so limited and I'm sure Ryan will have some stuff in there that will make people cringe but hopefully the benefits will outweigh some of the negatives.

Nothing's been said on campus about it at all that I have noticed, at least not by the University or the AD. I'm not even sure how students who aren't in Hoya Blue and don't read this board are even supposed to know that MM is tomorrow, except by word-of-mouth and HB's somewhat makeshift sign in Red Square. Kind of strange, if you ask me... ESPN, lots of recruits and very little publicity is a bad combination. Seems like a lot less effort has been put into marketing this thing. Hopefully it works out, but it should at least be up on the athletics website.

Seems like there has been a lot less info. about the event this year at least for people not on campus. Has there been a marketing effort on campus - any updates on what kinda stuff they have planned for this year. I haven't even seen anything on the althletics website.

Just out of curiosity, didn't Duke use our lukewarm recruitment of Ryan Kelly as a reason that Josh Hairston should drop us from his list? That there wouldn't be enough playing time for him if he came here with all the other prospects we were bringing in at his spot. I remember hearing that from someone on this board. Kinda ironic now.... Don't know a lot about these guys but based on their weights and their advertised skill sets - Duke is collecting a lot of very thin forwards that have the same skill set. How many 6'9-6'10 guys that are super skinny can you play at once. Miles Plumlee ('08) Ryan Kelly ('09) Mason Plumlee ('09) Josh Hairston ('10)

It was from a fan comment in this blog: weblogs.newsday.com/sports/basket....d_actually.html The fans seem generally positive about Pat. "Lastly, the little Ewing. I guess he replaces Balkman in the sense he doesn't shoot too often but keeps a lock down on opposing players with his ability to defend and move quickly. I say we keep him around. " "I just hope that they give Ewing Jr. a shot... " and from the guy writing the blog: "Patrick Ewing, Jr. hasn't stood out and seems to get overwhelmed under the basket against the veteran bodies, but I have watched him closely enough to see him defend very well against Wilson Chandler in some matchups. Ewing, Jr. is a player the Knicks want to keep, so he can be allowed some time to develop and progress."

As usual Georgetown players representing the school well - this was posted on one of the Knick blogs:
"*Ewing was the first guy shooting and the last guy off the court…one great finish in transition…looked a little confused in the offense…but they have to keep him."

I think having it at McD is actually a big positive in that it has more of a family/comfortable feel - we are one of the few schools that doesn't have to blow recruits away with facilities because we have something that almost no other school's can compete with - a very long list of very successful NBA pros. I know Midnight Madness is not going to a major factor for many prospects but from all the articles it seemed to be a big positive for Greg Monroe and I think some of you may be down playing it too much.
Having a graduate from the prior yr come unveil their NBA jersey along with having an NBA all-star from the past, along with having a wall of NBA jerseys reinforces what we have done as a program.
Not to mention the fact that it is probably a lot of fun to be in a packed gym having your potential future classmates cheer for you to come to their school.
It seems like a good recruiting tool to me and I hope we continue to put a lot of effort into - if not for recruiting purposes just because it can be a great way to start off the season when it's done well.
