If it's true that a fan shouted something and the opposing player's best player was T'd up for it, that needs to be looked into. And the ref who made the miscall should be suspended or disciplined - it seriously makes you wonder what's going on at Cameron.
That call DID NOT LOSE US the game by any stretch. But it's a pretty troubling situation. I hope the media picks up on this, though I doubt it will.

Well actually, that possession DID cost us the game, though not neccissarily the call. We were down four, then they scored four points on that possession with those foul shots, and it was eight and we basically stayed behind by that much the rest of the game.
Second, I have NEVER EVER seen a ref call a T a single player on the bench, its always just a T on the whole bench. The whole thing just seems strange. What could Monroe have possibly said?

I say we protest.
Send letters to ESPN, CBS and the NCAA.
I can live with the first couple bad calls on Monroe but that T sequence made it blatantly obvious that they were trying to take him out of the game.

I'd just like to know how the official decided it was Greg Monroe to give the "T" too? If you can't clearly point out who said something--then you select a kid? Why not give it to the Bench? Or as any good official does--ignores it unless it's blatant. I thought III received the technical and when they announced it was for Monroe--I was stunned--but thought maybe Greg said something. Now we know what happened--it's pretty sad.

We do need to protest because this really does reek of the whole thing being literally fixed. College Baksetball almost went under completely twice due to betting scandals. If these games are not on the up and up, when every office in America has an NCAA pool, than the NCAA could be the big, big loser today.

I sent an email to Liz Clarke asking her to discuss it in her column and that the word from Cameron is that it was a fan behind the bench...

Quote from Charlotte Observer: "Six quick points from DaJuan Summers helped Georgetown close the gap to 46-42 before a bizarre technical foul destroyed the Hoyas’ momentum. With 15:08 remaining, referee John Cahill called a technical on Monroe, who was seated on Georgetown’s bench. Monroe held his arms out and protested loudly." www.charlotteobserver.com/423/story/479644.html

unfortunately due to the weird configuration of cameron indoor, there was no camera on greg's lips during the critical exchange, so we're not likely to have any objective evidence to determine what happened.

Actually a bunch of Duke fans who were at the game said it was bald guy who was sitting right behind Greg who was the guilty party.

I don't think that's necessary. I think that was more an issue of getting caught up in the Cameron environment than being anti-Gtown. He shouldn't be calling any games in that arena, more so than not calling any of ours.

That tech reminded me of the tech on the bench in the Elite Eight: bizarre and extremely damaging. I'm not sure we would have won if it didn't happen but it would have made a more exciting game.
