The positive I'm taking out of the game and this incident:
Our fans are so rabidly engaged that we are able to draw a technical foul from an experienced referee while on the road in one of the most hostile arenas in the world, the famed Cameron. I mean, really, it has to be an NCAA FIRST that an AWAY fan was able to draw a technical by heckling a referee. I can understand an unruly home crowd drawing a technical, but an away fan...impressive.
Hoya freakin Saxa.

I was surprised to see that last comment in print. Good for Pat Forde.

Btw, at Louisville two years ago, I, along with a contingent from Nashville and San Francisco had the distinct pleasure of sitting behind the Gtown bench. Our little group was very, very, very vocal and at one point a nice young woman (PR director?) for GU kindly asked us to keep it clean...or the team might be punished. We thought it ludicrous at the time, but turns out she knew what she was talking about.

Nope. Turns out it was Joe Lindsay, Mike Kitts and Tom Lopes.

GUY IN THE STEELERS HAT SPEAKS
My brother used to work with the infamous fan behind the bench, and talked to him about the incident today. The transcript:
Dailey the Elder: What happened?
Steelers Hat: all i can say is I was wrongly blamed by Monroe pointing at me
DE: Who is responsible? Who are you protecting?!
SH: the ref was really Edited off at one of the asst coaches and blamed monroe for some reason
DE: I see. So did you hear the offending comment?
SH: not really, but i saw the asst get warned
DE: And you have no idea who actually uttered the offensive comment?
SH: i really dont think there was one. the ref was just Edited from before -------------------
So, there you have it. Still seems like shoddy officiating, but our bench should probably have been a little more composed.

Dailey... thanks for sharing. But .... "WOW"! If his account is accurate, the ref just decided to nail GU by giving a T to Greg that was totally unmerited. That, if true, is reason for an investigation and some serious consequences for the ref.

That, if true, is reason for an investigation and some serious consequences for the ref. True, but that story struck me as being a little bit self-serving. The guy was feet away doesn't know what was said, and couldn't tell if Monroe even said something? That seems a little strange to me.

Well, there was a little basketball game ongoing--perhaps he was paying attention to that? Also, when was the last time you could hear the conversation in the row in front of you at the Verizon Center during a raucous game? Aren't you a law student, SP?

If that's true, which seems improbable*, then this is far worse than we thought. It would mean that Cahill intentionally assessed a foul not on fault, but to penalize GU in the worst way possible. Unconscionable, and severe consequences should follow.
*Not questioning the veracity of Dailey's reporting, but Steeler Hat Guy's story.

I can hear conversations in front of me at VC. Especially if they are yelled like the insult allegedly was. I'd argue that from my viewing of the game, Cahill was not watching the Duke/Georgetown game.
