The risk of turnover was minimal because as I recall a defender wasn't all that close - perhaps reading too much into it, but perhaps Chris didn't want to waste a shot attempt (i.e., reduce his FG%) on a low percentage 3-point heave from half-court.

I was very excited to see the team win this type of game for psychological reasons - if only to show them that they have the ability to dig their way out of a hole (even if that hole was somewhat self-created with all of the easy looks that SHU had in the 2nd half. Lots of things for the team to work on in the next 8 days but hopefully they have a much better mindset and perspective on the season, having gotten themselves back to 3-4 with the two road wins.
Oh, and welcome back Austin!

Insult to injury that Bobby Knight keeps saying Syracuse as we're getting thumped at home on national TV.

Not going to fault the effort or anything. But they pushed us around, frustrated us, and we tried a whole bunch of hero shots to no avail. Don't like seeing a team with this much experience get this rattled. Got to learn from this. Agree - well put. Most frustrating thing about the team getting rattled since the crowd was quiet aside from the big scoring run where ND extended lead to 14.

Lots and lots of impatient possessions/shots by Hoyas throughout this game, most of them not even threatened by the shot clock.

According to the headshots on p.84 apparently we've got not one, but TWO Markel Starks (one of which looks suspiciously like Vee)... there will be no stopping the Hoyas this year!

Am I correct to understand Moses will be picking his Hoya uniform number based on the final page count of this thread?

Not sure if this has been posted on HoyaTalk before, but given the Gus Johnson digression I felt I had to share the link to the Gus Johnson Soundboard that a co-worker had forwarded me: www.gusjohnsongetsbuckets.com/

Wow - great to see the Mad Bomber on HoyaTalk! I was likewise a big fan of the '93 women's team's, although admittedly a late-arriving supporter that year (my freshman year at the hilltop.) It's great to see the team's resurgence this year and hope to catch a road game or two in the NJ-area next season, assuming that the women may have at least one game at either Rutgers and/or Seton Hall. Just a quick suggestion that if the women's team does in fact end up having a road game vs. one of the NJ teams, it would be great if there could be some coordination by Fast Break with the NJ club to try to get some Hoya support on the road since there are so many Hoya alum in NJ area (I know that they did this for the men's road game vs. Rutgers this past season).

I'll leave the game for the coaches to watch. And I think we can all excuse Austin, he looked off his game since the end of the regular season. I'd agree with that statement, although I do think his performance in his first game back (vs. Cincy) was quite sharp (24 pts, 4-7 3ptr, 3 assists, 2 steals in 30 mins), belying the fact that there was / will still need to be an adjustment period for Ausitn. Hopefully the offseason will give him enough time to get to know his body, within the context of his diabetes, that much better.

Herb Pope must have voted against accepting the invitation to the NIT. He just punched some dude and was ejected. Just to add some additional color... the punch was to the opposing player's groin. And there was not one, but 2 punches by Herb... to that same player's groin.

Great post, SirSaxa. I agree that us Hoya fans need to enjoy these few days of anticipation leading up to Thursday (and hopefully beyond) knowing that the Hoyas are back in the Big Dance and are a team playing with a purpose. Go Hoyas!

Sitting in NJT lobby at Penn Station at 12:50 and still no movement on trains out of the city. Hope the fellow HoyaTalkers can keep posting as I'm still too worked up from the game to try to close my eyes (and just my luck, probably miss the train when they get back up and running!).

The thing I found equally frustrating about Jenkins' column was that it appeared (to me at least) as though she may have influenced Liz Clarke into writing her USF game recap from an angle that supported her view, as opposed to taking the potential "Hoyas may have righted the ship" angle that one would have though would have been the more logical response to the Hoyas having 2 back to back 20 point victories after stumbling down the stretch.
That being said, the team & fans of the team don't need the press to laud the performance, just keep getting it done on the court at noon today and beyond. If it's for real, they'll follow soon enough. Go Hoyas!
