John Caprio from Seton Hall Prep in West Orange, NJ. He won't be seeing much time on the court, but its always good to have that North Jersey flavor on the team...

Thanks for the find.
Rated the 46th best player in the state of New jersey by NorhtStar blog: 46. John Caprio, SF, 6’6, Seton Hall Prep, uncommitted- a combo forward who does a little bit of everything, he can put the ball in the hoop and also rebounds well
PLAYER TO WATCH John Caprio of Seton Hall Prep has transformed himself in one season from someone with moderate offensive punch to one of the county’s more dangerous players with the ball in his hands. And without it, the 6-5 senior can be absolutely deadly. Caprio showed that twice in the second quarter and in the opening minutes of the third when he sneaked behind coverage and caught passes for easy backdoor layups for six of his 20 points Saturday in the Prep’s 69-57 victory over Shabazz in the Essex County Tournament semifinals. He’s averaged 17.7 points per game in three ECT games this month and is at 18.1 for the season. Caprio hit double figures just twice last season, but it was in the final two games. He used his head Saturday for open looks, but also his strong body and tight dribble to carve paths to the rim. -NJ.com
The 6-5 Caprio took advantage of those chances yesterday by scoring 23 points and recording career highs for rebounds (17), assists (nine), steals (five) and blocks (four) to lead Seton Hall, No. 9 in The Star-Ledger Top 20, to a 73-56 victory over scrappy High Tech of North Bergen in the New Year’s Jump Off at Teaneck.

Interesting, the pep rally was always done in Gaston when I was there...
Anyways, good to see that footage (although a little disappointed to see everyone sitting down), here's to the freshmen learning, contributing, and becoming full part of the Georgetown basketball fan experience.

It changed to mcdonough at least in 2008. it was still in gaston when i was a freshman in 06 but was in mcdonough my junior year, dont know about 07. I think gaston is better for that type of event, but mcdonough lets upper classmen sneak in if they want

It was on the Village C hill for at least a year or two as well when it was a smaller affair.

"Representatives from crew, football, men's soccer and rowing all urged the students to get involved."
So crew is so desperate for participants now that they are tricking the students into thinking it's two sports. ;D
Great to see that we have another player on the roster...we are loaded at the wing now

I know it's a minor thing, but I think it's so great that they do this. When I was in school (91-95), nothing like this ever happened. There was virtually no school spirit and certainly no pep rallies. The only thing that came even close was the march/rally to stop the closing of The Pub.

All I remember was a gathering in Gaston and Tim Healy shouting at me and all the other freshmen that we shouldn't get drunk. At all. Period.
.....Whoops. Sorry about that one, Father.

By contrast, the only "orientation" event we had was in Gaston on the first night we were there, where Rev. Healy joked that this would probably be the only time we would see him in person until Commencement. He ended the talk with the subtle note that "I understand there are some refreshments awaiting you on Harbin patio." (That was a slight understatemnt, being that 40 kegs stood by.) That was it--no diversity workshops, no mandatory book reviews, no convocations. The only event in McD was registration.

I was there during his last two (or three?) years as President, and I never saw him. I remember how strange we all thought it was that Fr. O'Donovan actually showed up at NSO and served hot dogs to incoming freshmen.

University-sponsored kegs and no diversity workshops? How did we ever manage??? I cry for the future. How are these kids to know right from wrong if Orientation is not sponsored by a Beer company? It was all part of the GU continuum: Orientation sponsored by Miller and Senior Week by Budweiser. A free binge on the way in and the way out.

I concur, but I think the problem is that now very few freshmen enter orientation at the legal drinking age. Still, 'tis sad, just the thought of that sounds great.
