My thinking is ABC - Anybody But Cuse. This means I won't cheer for upsets in their path to Indianapolis except upsets in games involving SU. I'm going with Kentucky on the other side of the bracket but will cheer for upsets in the South region.
Give me Tennessee in the Midwest, and I'll be happy. They might match up decently with SU[].

I'm going for Michigan State out of the Midwest and West Virginia out of the East. The South and West are tougher calls. I am having a tough time with the idea of Syracuse making another final four as well, but would also like for the Big East to salvage some of its reputation. As for the South, I've decided to go for Duke to win it all out of pure self-interest -- it will make my wife very happy. You really can't put too high a price on that.

Tough break (sorry, couldn't resist) for WVU. I dislike Huggins and most of their fans, but they're the only team left from the Big East that I can root for (ABC).
I think they can still beat Washington, but a potential Elite Eight matchup vs. Kentucky would be another story. We'll see though, still pulling for them.

If Leonard (Truck) Robinson has any college eligibility left, I'll be really surprised. That's Truck Bryant. If Michigan State wins its regional without Lucas, it might be Izzo's greatest coaching accomplishment. No way I see that happening. I'm pulling for UNI there, but don't expect it. Look for Ohio St to head to Indy. As for the others, I'm rooting for Baylor (abd), West Virginia or Cornell (abk), and afalcon's favorite team, Kansas St. I hope Syracuse beats Butler (and expect them to do so), but it wouldn't bother me a lot if they lose to K State.

Hope Syracuse beats Butler? Please revoke posting privileges, Dan. Yeah, I admit I've shifted course on this from my earlier position (which was root for Syracuse only against Maryland), but I'm willing to do so here to salvage some pride for the Big East.

The big East's story for this tournament has already been written.
Syracuse or WVU getting to the Final Four will not really change that.
All they'll say is that the league was STILL overrated, but that it had a couple of good teams at the top.
(Maybe if both get there, or the BE wins the national title, it might change; are you really willing to root for Syracuse to win a championship just for a little extra league cred?)
Syracuse winning is not going to destroy the established narrative, so you might as well root against them.
It's the right thing to do. You'll sleep better at night.

I might have to seek advice from my clergyman about who to root for in a potential Syracuse - Duke National Championship Game.

Are you taking writing style tips from the_way. You are writing an awful lot like him. That's the truth.

There is no need to write in paragraphs when discussing Syracuse.
There are no nuances, no shades of gray, no ambiguity.
Syracuse is evil.
End of story.
If my firm belief in this truth makes me resemble _way, I can accept that, for I am righteous.

Going to the evil CUSE for the Eastern Regionals. Ended up with an extra strip of tix. Anyone interested in buying them, they are section 313, PM me. I scored some UK lowers for my clan.

No, I will not root for Syracuse to win the national title. WVU yes, Syracuse, no. And that's even though Huggins is a slimeball. Still, I like the way WVU plays, and think Butler is fab. Plus, if they play Moneybags University at Lexington, it's a really, really, really easy choice. If Syracuse and WVU lose their next game, the criticism of the Big East will get a whole lot worse. I agree that the only way to abate the criticism would be for both Syracuse and West Virginia to make the Final Four, and for one of them to win the championship. I'm not willing to sacrifice that much (on the Syracuse end). And this shows I, too can channel the_way. Over and out.
