Many CBB fans tuned in to watch Kentucky/Louisville and saw us dismantle the Hoosiers in that overtime. I love this year's team.

Sorry to lose out on the young man but you have to respect his choice to stay home and continue family legacy at USC. Glad he didn't pick Louisville!

Lorenzen Wright was pretty good I'm not sure which coach would get the credit for his development. Pastner nor Cal has developed anyone. You don't get credit for 1and dones. What about Marcus Camby? Lou Roe or The Douglas Roberts kid? Darious Miller, I'm sure there others I'm forgetting.. I get hating on Calipari but you have to be fair about it, at least a little.. Good God, Lou Roe. Haven't heard that name in the longest time. He was a beast and fun to watch while growing up in Mass.

Freeman was the best pure scorer IMO, so that's my pick. DSR is definitely a threat to take Freeman's title.
By slight contrast, Wallace was the best all-around player among those with a great outside shot.

Vanderbilt isn't exactly a random Top 20 school that happens to have a good baseball team this year. They've been in at least the regional finals playoffs every year since 2006, played in the College World Series in 2011, and count among their recent players 2012 Cy Young winner David Price, Oakland A's #1 starter Sonny Gray, Pirates 3B and 2013 All-Star Pedro Alvarez, and 2014 1st round (#14) pick Tyler Beede. Their baseball program is one of the best in the country. If Georgetown had a similar baseball program, hell yeah I would support it.

Georgetown University and Syracuse University announced today in a joint release that the schools will renew their long-time rivalry in men's basketball beginning in the 2015-16 season with a four-year home-and-home series.
One of the preeminent rivalries in all of college basketball, Georgetown will host the Orange at Verizon Center during the 2015-16 season and the Hoyas will visit the Carrier Dome in 2016-17.www.guhoyas.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/061014aaa.htmlAs it should be.

Nobody cares about college athletes in LA. Not when you can bump into any number of celebrities or pro athletes at any club bar etc on any night. Well, if you're talking about college athletes other than star QBs/RBs/WRs for USC, then I agree with you. U of A is the apotheosis of the warm-weather, huge state school with tons of hot girls and athletes treated as demigods by fans, students and university alike. If that's what a player is looking for, I don't think academic rankings are really going to sway them...

I think the more important point is, why make a tasteless reference to West Virginia when you have Rutgers sitting right there? That's just bad film making. You could have shown a 3-second clip of Tony Soprano in a wife beater eating some ziti and slapping a stripper. Except Tony went to Seton Hall!

Broadus is a major asset to the Georgetown program as an assistant, and a superb recruiter. He certainly appeared to be the Peter Principle in action at Binghamton, although Thamel made it his personal quest to berate Broadus in the pages of the NYT far beyond the merits of the actual story. It would make a fine redemption narrative if he got another shot at a head job, hopefully benefiting from lessons learned from the meltdown in Binghamton -- but until then, we Hoya fans will benefit from his exceptional abilities of persuasion.

If we could get UConn and Memphis, don't we take them in a heartbeat? And if they bail in a few years, so be it--then it's on to Plan B. But as of right now, I want UConn back in the league. We could definitely get UConn and Memphis. And the instant another, bigger conference even hinted that they might invite them, they would immediately start packing their things. The BE gains very little (a few more points in conference RPI?) from inviting schools that will forget the sport of college basketball even exists the second they have the opportunity to make more football money. It's nice to be done with that merry-go-round. That said, UConn has deluded themselves with football, they should just drop it and then they'd likely be welcomed by the BE with open arms (while keeping one eye on our laptops).

This quote from a Boston Globe story cracked me up: "Now that Steve Wojciechowski has taken the Marquette job, which should offend BC folks because he considered a job in the flailing Big East a better position than one in the Atlantic Coast Conference, the Eagles are limited in their options to create sizzle." www.bostonglobe.com/sports/2014/04/01/needs-make-splash-with-basketball-coaching-hire/UeRbAjzo6NkZdTfJgc06kM/comments.htmlThe fact that someone would prefer the Marquette job over the BC job should offend BC folks because it's evidence not of some huge disparity in basketball conferences, but of the crappiness of the BC job regardless of conference.

"Requiem." That's rich. Coming soon to the History Channel, "Requiem for Archduke Franz Ferdinand," presented by Gavrilo Princip.

For non-insiders, we ranked 15th.
Scores out of 10: Coaching 7.9 Current talent 7.3 Recruiting 7.9 "Program Power" 8.4 Stability 8.4
ESPN likes: Coaching stability, GU's emphasis on hoops, 2014 recruiting class, assistant coach Taveras Hardy ESPN dislikes: recent NCAA record, lack of a proven star
Only other BE program on this Top 25 list is Marquette at #19.

Sure hope the donation of $100 million has been properly vetted, given all the turmoil over the Dodgers sale and his divorce (which cost him more than $100 million -- costliest divorce settlement in history?). What is the status of the Ginsberg lawsuit with the University? Anyone following it? The issue with McCourt as Dodgers owner was always that he was cash-poor, and bought the Dodgers on credit and some Boston parking lots for collateral. He basically strip-mined the team for money and assets to finance his ludicrous LA lifestyle. But with his divorce mostly wrapped up and the massive sale to the Magic Johnson group, he's truly flush for the first time. And it looks like Georgetown is a big winner in this whole situation. Outside of LA Hoyas, who probably have to feel pretty conflicted about the fact that the $100M was essentially heisted from one of their civic institutions, this is great news for the Georgetown community!

This is so reminiscent of the self-serving Jeff Green wishful thinking. He is gone. It would be insane to come back. I wouldn't do it, and neither would you. Is it reminiscent of Roy Hibbert wishful thinking? Come on, Hibbert was not a Wooden Award nominee and a consensus top-5 pick after his junior year. The two situations are not remotely the same.

The comparison of the TV deals is so unbelievably intellectually dishonest, it makes me wonder if Thamel is merely stupid or deviously misleads his readers.

"Many schools in the Catholic Seven are enamored with VCU, especially because the league's bottom four teams -- Providence, DePaul, Seton Hall and St. John's -- have combined to win just one NCAA tournament game in the last 10 years."
So "many" schools out of six are enamored with VCU because four of the six are terrible? The only way this makes sense is if at least two of PC, DP, SH, SJ are thinking "we are terrible and shall remain so, let's get VCU so we can leech off their program." And saying that out loud.
Thamel = THE worst.

Great work by the Hoyas today. Our defense absolutely silenced Cincy when it counted. Outstanding play by DSR off the bench to pick us up when it looked to be turning into a dogfight.
