I have been off the board for awhile. Has Otto declared for the NBA and signed with an agent yet?

Yeah, because that's the kind of news that would tend to get hidden on Page 4... You are not a troll, Ranch, but you ARE trolling. And I'm pretty sure you know it.

Heard Thompson do an interview with the Sirius College Sports station today. No news here - The radio guys (Mark Packer and and Bobby Cremins) asked "who was graduating" from the team. Thompson said "no one, but we might lose one to the NBA." He then followed up with the generic "Otto and his parents are discussing his decision".
The one note I found interesting - after each coach they spoke with, Cremins made a point to say something like "good luck on the recruiting trail". I think it is hard for fans to fully understand how all-encompassing the recruiting aspect of the job is, and it was interesting to hear Cremins focus in on this aspect of the work so intentionally with each coach he interviewed
The Sirius College Sports station has been great listening during college hoops season. Once football is over, they talk about pretty much nothing but college basketball all day, every day. their hosts are not the real big names, but they do a nice job. Jeff Goodman (CBS writer) is one host, and they have ex-coaches like Cremins, Steve Lappas, Tom Brennan (funny guy), Bruce Pearl. mateen Cleaves is also on a lot - seems like a great guy, although he is still developing as an interesting broadcater.

I saw a tweet on 4/1 that indicated that he was still deciding. It looked sincere but I wasn't 100%.
At least it takes a decision....

Yeah, because that's the kind of news that would tend to get hidden on Page 4... You are not a troll, Ranch, but you ARE trolling. And I'm pretty sure you know it. No offense to Ranch who is one of our best contributors, but this is like those annoying Kenner League season posts. A few times during that part of the schedule you can count on someone, like fifteen minutes after a day of KL action has ended, click on to this site, look around a bit and ask in exasperation : Did anyone check out any of the games today? Can you please provide details? They ask these questions as if it will automatically trigger a wanted response from some uncooperative folks who just so happened to watch KL action that day but were adamant about keeping the secretive information all to themselves. Ugh. Drives me nuts because there has rarely if ever been a day of Hoyas playing in the Kenner League in which none of our posters don't eventually share some details. But considering none of these posters are getting paid to provide any reporting of these summer league games, there aren't any deadlines they must meet either. They will do so on their schedule, not ours. They will get around to providing the breakdown as soon as they are rested and ready. No need to beg to speed up the process. Pet peeve. ;D

But the outcome will be NBA. The reasons are just to numerous why now is the right time for him and his development. I wont be mad about it

If they replaced Goodman with a better host and just had him on for news of the day segments, then it would be perfect for college basketball junkies.

Otto on twitter has given no indication that he has made a decision either way. saying that, i would expect him to make the jump to the nba. as many have said on this board, it just makes too much sense to jump to the nba this year for him.

Hoyas will be better without him with Smith. No post killed this team . Really? I am not certain you are being serious here. Assuming that you are, I hope you are close to being right. You are making a lot of assumptions about Smith. Taking Otto out of the lineup impacts overall scoring, rebounding and assists for the offense. Which of those categories will Smith make up for and improve upon? Moreover, Porter had a non-stop engine and was willing and able to play 40 minutes a game if necessary. Can Smith play 25 in his current condition. I have seen Smith play alot the past couple of years and while I will acknowledge that Howland may have been the wrong coach for this kid, it is still hard for me to imagine--barring some incredible makeover between now and next January-- that he will be such an improvement to offset the loss of Porter. Whittington could perhaps do that. Smith is likely to be much better than Hopkins was this year. However, he is slow and very poorly conditioned. I suspect everyone is looking at who he was coming out of high school and not who he is today. I know that can change but it is going to take a heck of alot of work between now and January.

If he goes, Otto will miss out on the best in class hoops-centric architecture we are creating.

His stock will never be higher. He absolutely has to go right now. I wish I didn't agree with this. This is true if he values maximizing his draft position above all else. Perhaps other parameters will impact his decision. I can dream...

Otto + Smith (+Whit) = Preseason #1 and NC baby!!!!! (Hope does spring eternal) He's gone, but do you really think the Hoyas would have a shot a preseason #1 if he was coming back (which he isn't)? I think they'd be tail end of top 10 in the rankings - that's not to say they wouldn't deserve to be #1, but I do think the end-season losses make us kind of forgotten at the start of each season. Anyway, fun to dream. I still wonder how great the 2007-08 team would have been had Green stayed. That's college hoops these days, I guess.
