He led the team in scoring, tied with Villanueva.

3-0, with a one week lay-off before rolling out of bed for Lafayette. As we all assumed, the team is rolling towards 6-0, we'll learn much more in December.

Roy getting some nice love over at the WWL. Ranks him 3rd among sophomore players this season. Here's the blurb. Hibbert is on the early list for most improved player. For a guy with a nice perimeter shot, he's using his size to pound the paint instead -- he's getting 69 percent of his baskets in the paint. His rebounding numbers are way up, too. And more importantly, he's helping the Pacers win; they've won five of seven games this month with Hibbert scoring in double figures and shooting better than 50 percent shooting in each game. Earlier this week, he had 19 points (on 9-of-11 shooting), 10 rebounds and three blocks against fellow soph Brook Lopez. insider.espn.go.com/nba/insider/columns/story?columnist=thorpe_david&page=Sophs-091120

"Jumping the shark is a colloquialism used by TV critics and fans to denote the point in a television program's history where the plot spins off into absurd story lines or unlikely characterizations." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jumping_the_sharkNotable examples include the aforementioned shark jumping by Fonzie, adding "Cousin Oliver" to the Brady Bunch, or a switch between different actors to play the same character (e.g., the two Darren Stephens). Then this thread has definitely jumped the shark. Nah, this thread sucked from its very inception, and is thus incapable of jumping the shark.

Oden is absolutely coming around. He seems to be getting his athleticism back after the major knee injury. One could argue that he is already the best defensive center in the game (although it would raise eyebrows while Dwight is still in the league) at only 21 years old. He's anchoring a devestatingly effective Blazers D.

Roscoe would give us a class with a talented point, wing and big. Can't ask for much more than that.

I'm generally a proponent of "the offense" but it does bother me that Monroe always seems to get the ball outside of the paint. This happened with Roy too, but I feel like because of Greg's superior perimeter skills it happens to far too great an extent. Call me a traditionalist, but a center is of best use to his team when he has the ball in the paint, either scoring on his one on one match-up or passing out of the double team to either a cutter or a 3 point shooter. I sure hope it comes around...

You can't rebound like that in the BE and expect to win. It's one thing to be out-rebounded, it's another thing entirely to be not rebound at all. I didn't think our rebounding was a problem. Temple has top level Big East size, we did fine on the boards. We need to start running an offense and making open jumpers when they come up.

I think this 24 hours of basketball is an aweful idea. How would you like to be the team that has to play the 6 am game. This means that these kids has to get up at 3 am, thats just insane. This just shows that these college programs would do anything ESPN tells them to do. I guess this has what its come down to. I guarantee you knowone was at that 6 am game just a total joke. I dunno, if I was on full scholarship to play basketball on national television, I wouldn't be bitching and moaning about having to wake up early in the morning. The player assistants, athletic department and students all have cause to complain, but the players can deal with the schedule in front of them.

It is silly to be too negative this early, but (here I go) neither Sims nor Monroe is a good defensive player, and Sims was basically atrocious at both ends of the court today. Sims may improve and play smarter, but I don't know if we will ever see strong interior defense from anyone other than Vaughn on this team. They just don't have the instinct for where to be on the floor. I think Monroe is a good defensive player who has to keep himself out of foul trouble personally. He's really solid when he's the helper with Vaughn in the paint, but he gets very soft with his challenges when he's the primary post defender.

Worrisome stat. Outside of Monroe, Clark, Freeman, Wright...
1-8, 2 pts, 7 pfs, 5 to's.

If you were looking to make an...err...friendly wager on this game, 13 points might be a fair line. I'm not saying, I'm just saying.

Would have been much funnier if it were about Rivers.

Sounds like Sapp/Wallace all over again. How does one define "point guard" in our offense?

I will be cutting the end of art history to catch the beginning of the game. When I discussed this with my (Hoya) father, he said "you don't really need to catch the first 20 minutes of the game". To which I responded, "I DEFINITELY don't need to catch the last 20 minutes of art history." You don't feel nearly as bad about cutting when you have the support of the people paying for the education.
