If this has been posted already, my apologies. I have been out of pocket for 3 months, and I just saw my first commercial for the ESPN 24 Hours of Basketball on Tuesday. There's a nice little clip of Jessie Sapp from a game last year in the commercial. Pretty cool. Unfortunately, I won't be able to make it to Verizon that day for our game vs. Temple.
Take note everyone: The Temple game starts at 4pm. Of course, it will be on "The Worldwide Leader".
As a side note, don't expect too many touch fouls to be called in any of the 12 games that day. I think ESPN is going to do everything they can to have the games tip off at each respective scheduled time.

This is a cool idea....I just wish it was being done on a day when the majority of people aren't working. I'd love to sit and watch games all day, but that's not happening. Most importantly though, I should be home just in time for the Hoya's tipoff!

Saint Peter's is having a pre-game pep rally... at 4:00 in the morning www.spc.edu/pages/2317.asp?ssid=6791&nid=7687I checked out a couple of the other early-game home-team basketball pages but nothing else too interesting. I wonder what types of things these athletic departments are offering to try and get kids in seats at 6, 8, 10 in the morning.

i mean 10 on a tuesday shouldn't be that hard. most people are in class at that point. and I think most people would rather be at a basketball game than in class, but yeah 6 and 8am are rough.

If I was employed by the St. Peter's athletic department, I'd hate ESPN with the fire of a thousand suns for making me get up before 4:00 AM to work a game.

Equipment managers and ushers aren't going to see that money except in some OT pay perhaps. I also imagine that the camera and production crews hate it as well

Strangely, I have a friend who works at St. Peters who is a Hoya. I have to ask him about that game. Painful.

TWO OBSERVATIONS:
This coach Burton for CSF looks disturbingly like Shoeshine from SUcks - no more pulling for the underdog tonight.
Next year I want the 11 PM HI Time game - not so I can watch a game at 2 AM here in CT but so that I have an excuse to be out in Honolulu at 130 AM or so on a Tuesday. Can we play Chaminade?

Following from work is helping me kill the hours before bailing for the Verizon Center. Many of the games have already been quite exciting with one upset mixed it.

I actually watched the end of that Cal St Fullerton-UCLA game. It was exciting and went to double overtime. 'Not sure how good CSF is, but unless they are better than I expect, UCLA is in a serious rebuilding mode. Still, very entertaining though

Still, very entertaining though Agree Hifi--but you should know UCLA was playing without 2 of their incoming FR who have been injured--Honeycutt and Moser. J'Mison "Bobo" Morgan also has been nicked up--although I'm not that high on his game--but glad to see he's lost weight and in good shape. Fullerton has former Top 100 recruit/big Bryce Webster from MN. Nice kid and had big block/rebound in 2nd OT. Game was entertaining but again shows how poorly coaches manage margins and let players hoist 3pt shots instead of getting higher percentage shots and pushing ball up to get better looks. Just because a possession is more important doesn't mean you need to walk ball up, hold it, and let defense get set. You can probe/push and put pressure on defense to get back--which creates open shot opportunities. Just my two cents.

thanks stroya, I tried to post the exact link but it's hard to do on this slow piece of EDIT that I have at work. Fortunately we do have ESPN. Now if the Little Rock game doesn't go into overtime [/hoping]

I think this 24 hours of basketball is an aweful idea. How would you like to be the team that has to play the 6 am game. This means that these kids has to get up at 3 am, thats just insane.
This just shows that these college programs would do anything ESPN tells them to do. I guess this has what its come down to. I guarantee you knowone was at that 6 am game just a total joke.

I dunno, if I was on full scholarship to play basketball on national television, I wouldn't be bitching and moaning about having to wake up early in the morning. The player assistants, athletic department and students all have cause to complain, but the players can deal with the schedule in front of them.
