Geeze. Great pick-up for Marquette. We need to make a splash in the late recruiting period in order to not be massacred in the BE next year.

Honestly, I think him completely glossing over the shift from sports towards a more politicized agenda shows how out of touch he is with a majority of viewers around the country. Whatever side of the spectrum you fall on, ESPN is not the place I/nor many others who watch sports, turn to wanting to hear about any sort of social/political issues involving athletes.

I know I am probably asking too much of this board as I am fairly certain none on here are privy to this information, but I will ask anyway. Is Ewing's salary being relatively low ( ) the main catalyst for us being able to hire Orr, Kirby, and Jones/Skinn in legit assistant positions while still maintaining Wallace and Waheed in some capacity? I really like that we are going to have 2 "recruiting gurus" on staff without sacrificing the X and O's side of the game. I know the NCAA prohibits more than 3 official assistants, but I am confused why other elite schools don't already have this 5-6 coach set-up in play already. We could really gain a competitive advantage over the BE by exploiting this.

Am I wrong in thinking the closest comparison I can think of, based on current ability, is Kamar Baldwin of Butler? Baldwin has a funky looking release but shoots the ball at a high percentage. Also, Baldwin might have a slight edge in handles and quickness, but Blair looks to be the better passer. If he could have anything close to the level of impact Baldwin had last year then I believe we have a very solid 4-year guard. Add Waters back and things get interesting. . .

Zion would be a huge get for Patrick. He was interested enough to visit campus last year, except JT3 didn't meet with him. In a post on Mar 26, 2017, blueandgray wrote: "When Zion Williamson was on campus earlier in the year ....JT3 never made the effort to meet him despite being on campus himself. It was a HUGE problem." If Pat can get him back to campus and give him a different experience, who knows if he would come, but this talented kid is worth a shot. Uh. Just curious. Do you have a source on this? Absolutely mindboggling and would explain the drastic turn in our recruiting fortunes if JTIII really had that type of mindset. Unexcusable conduct..... If this is factual, and I were Zion, I wouldn't have answered another phone call/text from Gtown

Kirby is an A+++++ hire. Absolute gem of a signing by Ewing. I am on the younger side so my knowledge on Orr is rather limited outside of him being an NBA player and college coach with limited success. Can anyone elaborate more on what Orr specializes in? I know people say he's an X and O's coach, but does that mean game planning, in-game management, and scouting/analytics? Or more along the lines of player and team development? Kirby is both an elite recruiter and great player developer from what I have discerned so, in my opinion, we need a younger high energy connected recruiter, i.e. Skinn/Early.

Former 5* Carlton Bragg of Kansas is transferring. I think Ewing needs to make a splash this year in the transfer market. Snag 1-2 guys

Frank Martin. Yes, SEC school and they would probably pay him anything at this point if we started sniffing around...but he has built the program at South Carolina from the ground up and plays a style that all Hoya fans would get behind. Took Kansas State to the Elite 8. He also suspended the SEC player of the year for 6 games this year due to academics, has kicked off multiple players that didn't perform academically, and understands how to interact with fans and the university community. My alma mater. Virtually no shot he would leave USC. He loves the community and the community loves him. Plus, no offense to him, but he doesn't seem to recruit or prioritize high academic kids

Think anyone who thinks that JTII is done with the program is being a tad irrational. He built this program up to blueblood status, do you think he can't objectively look at the direction the program was heading in and realize a change was necessary, even at the expense of his son? Doubt he thinks his son had a right for life to be a coach.

Also, listening to those guys basically $hit on us for not recruiting the DMV players really disappoints me. Why the hell wouldn't you want to have your former greats out in local basketball circuits basically scouting for our team and pushing kids towards us pretty early on in the recruitment process? Baffling

Reggie: "You know I went to a few games this year, but I never wanted to go all the time. You know why? Because when I watch and they lose I get physically sick. And that's not good!" --> Pretty hilarious way to sum up what a majority of us diehards feel after every loss as well. Can't imagine how badly ex-players feel looking at the state of the program....

Obviously will be in the minority here, and my viewpoint is skewed as my best friend is a diehard Cuse fan, buttttt one of us has to remain a national powerhouse for the rivalry to survive. If it ain't us, then i'll be rooting for Cuse to stay an elite program

How can anyone want JTIII to stay? This program is self-destructing with him @ the helm. Plus, a couple very good mid-major coaches that are available to snag this year, plus we would be the premier team searching for a new coach this year as only NC St. is near the same class as us.

As a youngin who has not experienced the nastiness that comes with office politics and reputation protection. Why would the Thompsons be nasty if JTIII "resigns" or is fired? He brought this upon himself. What CEO or other professional coach could look in the mirror after the last 4 years and actually believe that the results on the court and the calls for his head are unjustified? If this was a publicly traded company, JTIII wouldn't have lasted past the Ohio debacle, much less the FGCU embarrassment. I think III is a smart enough guy to understand the reality of his situation nowadays, though if I had to predict, I think he believes he'll have one more year and if we miss the tourney next year then he would probably admit that he can't do anything but retire. You guys keep talking about money. His father was JTII, and he's been a high level coach being paid multi-millions with a degree from Princeton. He is almost assuredly financially secure enough that he would not stay here if it was all about money. How do you think he would feel if he pulls a Meyer and the Georgetown brand that his father built becomes irrelevant?

So what happens next?
So let's just clear the elephant from the room right off the bat. Based on credentials, JTIII should be gone after this season. Now, it seems to me that currently the Georgetown brand still carries quite a lot of weight in college basketball circles. We are still mentioned by elite recruits, still have a whole host of NBA players (ex + current), and analysts still chat us up. With that being said, to continue on par I think for another 5ish years could potential ruin that brand for forevermore. I was just a toddler at the time that Esherick was fired, and was like 10 when JTIII was hired. So for you oldies, what happens next? Is a mass exodus of players a sure thing? Do we lose our current recruits? If we get a big-name Coach can we perhaps salvage a tourney bid in the next 2-3 years? Or is this going to be a massive overhaul? About coaches, and realizing our brand is being diluted, do you go after one of the biggest names you can get, or do you try and hire a young upstart who has the fire to succeed at all costs? I just can't seem to predict what could happen as I have no experience. Would love to hear yall's thoughts.

I don't understand the panic with the 2017 class. We have 2 very talented players coming in that make an impact next year, and only lose 3 (2 of whom aren't a negative loss). With our roster being stretched thin from a talent standpoint as is, why do people want us to take a chance on a project or a "hidden gem." At this point pretty much every high major talent has committed to play somewhere or has cut their list to a couple school to which Gtown was not included on. I definitely think we need a third in this class, but think we are going to have to go the transfer route or JC to grab someone talented and that market isn't really open at this point in time. As long as Peak stays I think the staff should hold out. We don't need a 10 man rotation so just recruiting for recruiting's sake isn't a great strategy.
