They can do it if they play well and Nova is off but we haven't seen the consistency this year.

It's at their gym aka "The Ski Lodge" née the Steve Carell er "John E. DuPont Pavilion" rather than the Core States er First Union er Wachovia er Wells Fargo Center. That does not figure to be helpful. But fair is foul and foul is fair. Who knows?

I think maybe it's time for me to take a Hoya hiatus. If we beat Nova and somehow win a couple of games, I will start watching again. I love this team, but our loss to Seton Hall today, was second only to the FGCU loss in disappointment for me. This was such a big game and so crucial to our season. I hate to think that this year will be as disappointing as last year. Some thoughts: If 1 for 19 from 3 was so horrendous, then why are Peak and Mosely the only two players capable of driving in for lay-ups? Why was Tre Campbell only in the game for 3 minutes and Reggie in only for 4 minutes? How about giving Trey Mourning some quality time, since Bradley is not contributing? This was a game we could have and should have won. I wish them the best against Nova and please, make a believer out of me again.

We are gonna have to shoot 65% from the floor and 90% from the line or we will be routed.

I almost hate to watch the game hoping that might bring us some luck.

What would it mean for us if we beat Villanova? Would it be enough to salvage our tournament hopes?

It would pretty much neutralize Saturday's loss. But we would still need at least 4 more wins if not 5. And that just does not seem likely for this group.
But - one step at a time.

Boys, it feels a lot like last year.
We have a scenario to do something that is aggressive but believable then we lose again. Then we come up with an unrealistic scenario like we have here and hold out hope.
It's time to turn the page on this team and I don't think next year will be much brighter if we continue with this.
it's clear this coach can't run this program and all aspects of a program at this level. He's a good man but getting his lunch eaten. He was in the driver's seat when they formed this conference as the premier program in the new BE and it's mind boggling how bad he's failed.
I don't want excuses for this program as we basically brought in a bunch of mid majors who are now looking at us with pity for what our program has become.
Apologize all you want but it's ridiculous we don't demand better and that we sit as victims.
This program will wash out if we continue this road.
I'm not looking for argument here as that's lost on this board at this point because most have given in to us being bad.
Very sad.

It's not like we played horribly against seton hall, at least defensively. But I don't think we will get the wins either too inconsistent and limited.

I don't get the Hayes regression. He has just not been good all year. I feel sorry for him honestly and hope he can get it going.

Yes, not the last memories of your basketball career you want to take with you. He seems even less mobile than usual this year, and forces too many hook shots from awkward spots on the floor.

Let me start by saying that next year I will be attending my 50th reunion. I've been a Hoya fan since Tom O'Keefe and Jack McGee. Though I live nearly 100 miles away I try to attend at least 5-6 home games a year. I'm a fan. But I'm also realistic. There is no way the Hoyas beat Nova this year. Have you seen Nova play? They have 4 guys on the floor at all times who can drive to the hoop, hit3's, grab rebounds and loose balls and also play phenomenal defense. We have maybe on guy who can do 3 of those things and no one who can do them all. Tomorrow night will be a clinic and will demonstrate how far we've fallen and how much the game has passed us by. I hate Nova more than anyone else on this board but damn Jay Wright has figured it out. He finds guys who maybe don't have the greatest resumes but who can handle the ball and shoot. He doesn't waste scholarships on big men who aren't athletic or guards who are timid. He loves those 6'5"-6'7" guys who can post smaller guards or drive by bigger forwards/centers. He loves guards who are smart and are true floor leaders. In short, he saw what Otto and Wallace did for us and decided to stock his team with similar players. Meanwhile JT3 seems to have either lost his way or his recruiting mojo. Sadly, other than LJ and maybe DSR there is no one on this Hoya team ( or on any of our last 3-4 year teams) that I will have fond memories of in 10 years. Yeah the Pryor dunk was amazing and Govan 3's are fun to watch but seriously. Lubick, Hopkins, Moses, Josh Smith, Reggie, Ike, Hayes, Campbell? Is Mosley going to be our next flop at point guard? I know you can't judge guys from their H.S. resumes but how does a guy who leads his team to a 32-0 record and a state championship become so weak and timid when he comes to us? Sure there has to be some freshman jitters but we are 3 months and 23 games into the season and he looks like someone who accidentally crashed a White House party. And where is the team "attitude"? These guys all look defeated before they take the floor. Okay, I'm done venting. But if we lose by least than 20 points tomorrow night I will be shocked. But like most of you I will be planted in front of the TV watching and hoping.

But like most of you I will be planted in front of the TV watching and hoping. I agree with you that we are likely to get crushed tomorrow night. That said, I disagree with "These guys all look defeated before they take the floor." During the Seton Hall game, I saw a team that was fighting and truly putting in effort to try to win the game. Now, that wasn't enough and we lost, which stinks. But, I don't think they're playing like they are defeated. And, given the circumstances (i.e., very little chance of post-season), I think that's actually a good thing. The team isn't giving up, even though they could if they wanted to. We have to accept this team for what it is - flawed. That doesn't mean we cannot win games, and it doesn't mean we cannot go on another winning streak, but the odds are definitely against that happening. If everything goes right for us - our top guys all shoot well, we don't foul too much, we don't turn it over, and we defend decently, and Villanova has a bad night, we could win. I don't expect that will happen, but hey, nobody expected the Patriots to win the Super Bowl toward the end of the game, either. On Mosely, I don't think he's a flop, or will be a flop as a point guard. With Waters coming in, I don't think Mosely will even get a chance to truly be this team's point guard, except as a backup.

But I don't hold out much hope for that considering how badly we missed with Campbell. As for tomorrow night, as bad as Nova might play offensively, no way they let up defensively and that will be more than enough to cause a rout. They stunk against UVA for 30 minutes (0-8 from 3 for Hart and Jenkins) but their defense kept them in the game against a very good team. I dread what they will do to us if they play that kind of defense.

I disagree a bit on the comments about Moseley...he's growing, and trying to play a position he really didn't play in HS...he was very strong taking his man to the basket and finishing (and 1 in one case) in the first half against SH...I think he had 7-8 points in the first half, while everybody else missed point blank shots from right under the basket, and nobody could hit a three...he's a warrior, and his stroke looks to be improving. Worst case, he'll be a key component/glue guy moving forward...if he continues to work on/improve his ball skills and shooting, he'll be a positive contributor going forward.
