I know people are disappointed, but I am cool with this. Govan and Y7 would not be a solid tandem together, especially on defense. Furthermore, next year's team is looking like it could be a top 15 squad easily. Akinko, McClung/Blair, Pickett, Leblanc, and Y7 would be the most talented starting 5 we have put on the floor since our Wright/Freeman/Monroe team. Throw in just one elite wing gives us a team with FF aspirations IMO.

Not impressed. If we miss the tournament because of our schedule.... What is Ewing thinking?

Overall, content with the schedule released so far. I believe that Richmond, Liberty, and USF will be improved from last year and hover around that 150-175 range. If we can add one more game against a top 100 hundred opponent then I don't think people can gripe about the non-conference SOS this year.

Would be a huge loss for Nova. I think he's a potential 1st team AA next season. I love his game. We need a big man like him to have a chance at a Natty Ship.

I think people are underestimating Leblanc because of the foot injury causing him to miss his high school season. Dude was Defensive POY on the AAU circuit and is a freak on defense. And this isn't playing Gate City equivalent competition, Leblanc has gone head to head against many 5* players and have put the clamps down. Go back and check out some tapes of his AAU game last summer. I was through the roof when we beat out LSU and A&M to get Josh and I think he's going to be a monster from Day 1. Kaleb struggles to finish because of athleticism, but he gets so many open looks on cuts because of Govan/Derrickson being doubled. Leblanc will finish those opportunities next year. 9-11 ppg and 2 bpg. Mark it down.

Agreed. Need to uncover a PG that can run a team and can shoot (!!!!!). Please God, give us something. We could be really d@mn good next year if we can somehow get a Pickett like addition @pg.

I understand the general pessimistic sentiment being expressed by most, but I am unsure if people have actually evaluated other teams as a whole before making predictions. When you look at the conference the BE will not be nearly as good next year, at the top end or in the middle, and thus, our strong returning nucleus should see us surpass some teams next year. Breaking it down. Xavier- Macura, Blueitt, O'Mara, & Kanter Nova- Brunson (NBA), Bridges (NBA) Seton Hall- Delgado, Rodriguez, Carrington, & Sanogo Creighton- Foster, Hegner, Thomas (NBA) Provy-Bullock, Lindsey, Cartwright Butler- Martin & Wideman Marquette- Rowsey Georgetown- Mulmore & Dickerson St Johns- Ahmed -------- Depaul- N/A
When looking at the holes left by these departures I don't think its absurd to say we are a top 3 team solely based on returning players. We should be able to jump Marquette, Butler, Seton Hall, Providence, and Creighton based on what we return with a shot at surpassing X. Break down the predicted starting lineups and you see the BE is pretty devoid of talent next year unless we see huge jumps from some role players.
Disclaimer: I am a man who puts more stock in watching freshman play than basing performance on high school rankings so the newcomers have not factored into my analysis to this point. I think we are an easy top 5 BE team next year if we get solid guard play and Pickett becomes a legit 3rd head for our 3-headed beast. I think the defense will improve by default once the guys have Ewings schemes down more and our perimeter players get more athletic.

Think we have the best shot at Doutrive for top 100 2018 guys without any decommits coming back on the board. Think Montgomery is going to a blueblood, but is somewhat intrigued by working with Ewing. I am unsure if that will hold enough sway to get us into legitimate contention. I would like to tie down a guard before the end of the season then have the offseason to snag one more piece that the staff thinks we need. We can definitely be a solid tourney team next year if we manage to do that.

I think Govan has to return and shore up some of the deficiencies in his game before turning pro. He won't see the NBA floor next year anyway so unsure if getting paid a couple hundred grand abroad tops a summer working with Ewing, being the premier big man in the BE, and a Georgetown degree. Hope he returns. I really like our team next year if he does.

Only we could lose a game where we hold for the last shot...

@glide. This whole roster is on the shoulders of JTIII. Except if he stayed we prolly lose Derrickson and Govan to transfer and we have maybe 100 fans in the building. Damn I am heated at tonight's showing. I vastly underappreciated the Jason Clarks, Markel Starks, Jessie Sapps, and Jabril Trawicks of the past. Mulmore and Dickerson are a literal disgrace to the history of the program when they pull on the uniform that is how bad they are at basketball.

If we don't pull 2 above average BE guards in this class then I fail to see how this team improves. We might have the worst backcourt in Division 1 this year...

I know this isn't the right place. But my goodness the entirety of the $hitshow we see on the court right now falls squarely on JTIII. What did this man see in the players he recruited? How he single-handedly managed to take the program from where it was (top 10 for 7 straight years) to this is utterly baffling.. We are looking at a 3-4 year rebuild because Reid was too much of a pu$$y to fire him about 5 years ago.

I definitely feel comfortable entrusting the future of the program to Ewing, but after watching us play once agin? How the hell do you pass on this kid when Pickett, Johnson, and Blair are our wings? Johnson is probably one of the worst top 150 kids on the offensive side of the game I've ever seen. We really need someone like Tucker so it's kind of upsetting that we passed on him unless there was some giant red flag? I think most of the fan base couldn't care less about our players personalities if they are performing on the court. We need to turn this around and make the Tourney/be a bubble team at the end of next year. If not, then we are looking at half a decade of missing out....

Dickerson should not be guarding Baldwin, to big and to good. Baffling how Ewing is letting this persist. Stick Jagan/Juggy on him and Butler's offense goes stagnant again.

I know I keep reiterating this point, how can you be a D1 guard and not be able to dribble a basketball? Need Govan and Derrickson to go on a little spurt here.
