Yes I am quite upset.
Hopefully we play with a little more poise against Nova. I don't expect a win, but maybe some improvement over today?

All those Nova fans will be streaming into COA as well. Hope our students bother to show up.

Can we cancel these games? Nova is a constant reminder of what we could be and for some reason may never be. Small, private catholic school that has managed to establish a formula for success. Let me ask my fellow board members. As long as Jay wright is there do you ever see them sinking to our level or us rising to theirs?

More likely our rising than their sinking.

There is nothing to lose in this game. In our last game at home, we got blown out by a good Creighton team. I was there, and it can't really be worse than that. Villanova is as good and as balanced as they come. They can beat you so many different ways. That said, they struggled a bit against SJU tonight and they have actually looked human on the road this year. My brain says Villanova wins by at least 20, but I also think the Hoyas could keep it within 10. I think the key to this game is just to play loose and harness more of the energy we showed at times against Seton Hall today. If we do happen to win, it'd be one of the great wins in modern Georgetown history.

With the right coach, the team can get back to a Final Four even though right now it will be 3 straight years of having a losing record in the BE.

The subject was beaten to death yesterday in the Seton Hall game thread, during which I didn't chime in because I was at Prudential Center for the game. In a guard-centric conference, it will be hard to compete until we have guards that can consistently play at this level. I thought that JT3 is a great person and a marvelous ambassador for the Georgetown program and its ideals, but his inability to successfully and regularly recruit guards is being painfully felt this season.
It takes time to turn around the ocean liner in the middle of the sea. Let's see what Patrick Ewing can bring in over the next few years in the backcourt. Until then, games like the upcoming 'Nova game will likely be ugly.

We have dropped to depths once thought unimaginable. I feel like we have taken steps to right the ship. It just can't be righted overnight.

We lost to Butler in double overtime, a game we should have won. Butler then beat Nova. PE should show the team film of our game with Butler again, and Butler's win over Villanova. Be interesting to see how we match up with this Nova team and if we can recapture some of the confidence we had when we weren't turning the ball over and then giving games away. Limit turn-overs and this could be an interesting game.

Not much to discuss here. They are a guard heavy team well drilled in their system. Their guards are way better than ours. Our bigs are better than theirs. But it’s hard to be successful when you turn the ball over too much and you don’t hit good looks. Let’s just be content with getting better and hope results begin to emerge. A victory in this one is not likely

Villanova does well because Wright puts player development at the forefront of their program..

Killer guards Nova. This team knows it's January. You know you have a great point when your coach says, Jalen Brunson is smarter than the whole coaching staff including himself. Wright also says he very very mature than all of his players. Phil Booth is now coming through with a career high 21 points vs. Xavier. This makes Nova a lot more dangerous. You turn the ball over vs. Nova if you want to you'll get blown out of Capital One aka "The Bank!" Hahaha.

You know there isn’t much hope when there is only 1 page of comments the day before you play the number 1 team in the country. I can’t even envision a scenario where we pull this one off.

Wasn't that long ago that Nova fans would have happily switched places with Georgetown. I think getting over the hump with the national championship win puts them in a place to really institutionalize the success and carve out a spot in the second tier, just below the Kentucky/Duke blue bloods. And they've recruited smart and well and a bit lucky. After all it was Josh Hart and Jenkins that keyed their championship win, both of guys who quite possibly could have been Hoyas if we had made them priorities early. Two other take aways: 1) Guard play remains king in college ball, and Nova has had consistently good guard play for a long time. 2) They defend the crap out of the ball. Wish we were half as adept at handling pick and roll actions and that sort of thing, but we have consistently sucked at it for close to ten years now. Can we cancel these games? Nova is a constant reminder of what we could be and for some reason may never be. Small, private catholic school that has managed to establish a formula for success. Let me ask my fellow board members. As long as Jay wright is there do you ever see them sinking to our level or us rising to theirs?
