St. John’s hasn’t been talked about often on the recruiting front due in part to its absence of significant needs in the 2017 class. The program did part ways with Zach Brown, its lone 2017 pledge, and the class of 2018 is one that will be vital to its success moving ahead. The staff in Queens has laid down the proper groundwork with various local talent. One name to keep an eye on is Luther Muhammad, a 6-foot-4 shooting guard out of Hudson Catholic High School in New Jersey. At the time being, the Red Storm should be seen as the favorite for the top-75 recruit; he would be a fantastic addition this summer. Additionally, Naz Reid, a five-star center who will play with the same travel program as Muhammad, is someone where mutual interest is evident. Beating out potential blueblood programs could be the issue, though Chris Mullin and his staff have done fine work up until this point with the near 7-footer. Others worth keeping tabs on include Louisiana native and top-15 point guard JaVonte Smart, 7-footer, top-10 recruit Moses Brown, 6-foot-6 wing Khalid Moore and top-100 small forwards Lou King, Isaiah Mucius and Sidney Wilson. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/twitter-tuesday-indiana-recruiting-under-miller-latest-on-five-stars

Seton Hall still needs to fill a backcourt spot for next year, even with incoming top-150 recruit Myles Cale headed their way. The graduation of Madison Jones, a transfer from Wake Forest, will sting some, so look for the Pirates to remain in the hunt in the next few weeks for someone that can both create for himself and others with the basketball in his hands. Of course, Trevon Duval would be the perfect fit in the Seton Hall offense. The top lead guard in the nation is down to a final five, a group that involved the Pirates, though Duke has gained the most traction of late. Let’s say that Seton Hall misses on the five-star; where would they go from there? Well, Jordan Walker would be a tremendous pickup. While the plans are for the Patrick School standout to graduate this spring and then take a post-graduate year in the fall, Seton Hall should be seen as the favorite for him if he chooses to come out in 2017. Seton Hall also wouldn’t mind picking up a post commitment in the near future. They have remained involved with Roberts Blumbergs, a European center that can play both inside and out, and North Carolina native Isaiah Whaley, a long-bodied big man that has his game headed in the right direction. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/twitter-tuesday-indiana-recruiting-under-miller-latest-on-five-stars

Little surprised he declared after the knee injury. I thought he might come back for a year to show everyone he was fully healed and back at his previous level. Before his injury he was definitely a first round talent. I hope his rehab goes well and things work out for him.

Butler has really built a strong pipeline. Their incoming class is the strongest in school history based on ratings. They get Jorgensen eligible to play who was the GW transfer and many have watched in Kenner. Solid player. I doubt they lose anybody except their seniors. They get some size coming in which they have lacked with a top 80 recruit in Joey Brunk who redshirted last year (why can't we do that)?

They do lose Lewis, Chrabascz (love his game), Woodson and Savage, but Martin (breakout year next year), Wideman, and Baldwin are back. Plus they have a coach that has adapted well to the "Butler way".

6-11 Joey Brunk 4-star redshirt freshman 6-8 Kyle Young 4-star freshman 6-7 Christian David, 4-star freshman 6-4 Jerald Butler 3-star freshman 6-4 Cooper Neese 3-star freshman 6-3 Paul Jorgensen, 3 star trans fer junior That's who will be playing their FIRST game for the Dawgs next year! Plus returning "starters" Martin,(6'7") Wideman(6'8") Baldwin(6') and contributors Fowler(6'10") and McDermott(6'6").
Butler has plenty in the tank. Maybe we should be targeting Holtman. He is a Carolina guy so this gets him closer to home.

I am just thankful that the "powers to be" were smart enough to get Butler, Creighton and Xavier. If not then the Big East would be no better than the A10. That is why I am always cautious when realignment and adding teams to the current mix is discussed. The Big East was lucky to add those three schools and yet there are posters who complained and still complain about teams in the Big East. As far as NCAA tournament bids:
1. Creighton - 2 out of 4 2. Xavier - 4 out of 4 3. Butler - 3 out of 4

Could not have done any better - they have more than made up for our steady decline since the formation of the new conference. Goodness, if we could get back to a point of national relevance again (long way away given current condition of the program, but with right coach it will happen) this conference will be a powerhouse.

How about improvement from Georgetown and St. John's? The Garden would really be rocking for the Big East Tournament. I really think this conference is set up for success long term. I just hope the schools step up and pay the coaches accordingly. I may not like some coaches because they beat Georgetown all the time (cough Xavier cough), but they better up the ante and pay Mack. The same could be said of Creighton and Butler.

I am surprised we had not heard rumors of this earlier. The kid is a beast on the glass and that is valuable in any league. Probably not a first round pick but I would not be surprised if he found his way into the second round. Not sure if he leaves early for the second round or not, but he can play. If he does leave, that is a huge loss for Seton Hall

I think both of these guys come back. Great college players, probably not great NBA players. Like LJ, depends on family, needs, etc. I hope for the league both come back.

I am surprised at all 3 (Delgado, Bullock and Sumner). I really thought Sumner would be back because there will be a lot of questions about his health. It will be interesting to see if he can participate in any pre-draft camps. If not then you would think that would cause a lot of concern for teams. If he comes back and shows he has returned to his form from pre-injury that this would cause his draft stock to increase. However you never know personal situations and needs I guess.

Everytime I think St. John's is close they lose some body. Don't know about Williams but Ellison seemed to be a solid contributor.
