If anybody mentions how he doesn't play "D", then they don't have a clue. He has clearly bought in to the system. Couple of key steals tonight, getting on the floor for loose balls and rebounding. Kid is still learning too! Just a frosh eligibility wise but has been playing like an upperclassman.

I kept hearing DJO the WHOLE first half and after the first few minutes of the second half noticed that Greg was inserted to guard him and pretty much focused on that matchup for rest of the second half til we made our run. His fluidness around ball screens, attention to the passing lanes and focus was exceptional. Particularly when managing the upteen ball fakes by DJO. Young players typically get into foul trouble very easily on petty shot fakes 25 ft from the basket and Greg was having none of it. Mayb he could send the tape of his second half D to the Tom Emansky basketball academy for D.

His defense down the stretch was key to this victory. It won't show up on any stat sheet but my hat is off to that young man on Johnson-Odom in the second half. Great Job Greg!!!!

Bigger guys who can bang the boards on off/def and can take up space like a Dajuan Blair or Jeff Adrien are much more valuable than 6'10-6'11 guys who want to float the perimeter like a Duane Spencer. I say get him if possible

This kid is FOR REAL but even if he doesn't sign with the HOGS, HIGHLY UNLIKELY, the next school in line is OLE MISS. Ky is probably the best point guard in this class, ask Quinn Cook and if he had decided to go to Duke, his ranking would better reflect that. I would absolutely love for him to be a Hoya but think our time is better spent on the class of '12. Ky won't stray very far from home.

I told you folks in previous posts on Ky that he was not going here. He considered us but has always been an SEC lean and until he verbally committed to Arkansas was headed to Ole Miss and Andy Kennedy. He is very close to his family and was always going to stay close to his roots.

He won't stray that far from home...trust me. He loves his family and will end up at an SEC school most likely or Memphis.

Im in Arkansas, he and Kye are the REAL DEAL, would LOVE to have Kye but he's most likely headed to a school close to home, Archie is extremely talented and is more open to pursue school options outside of state

I live here in central Arkansas and would say there is a 5% chance this kid becomes a Hoya. Would never say never but the SEC schools have the inside track on him. He can flat out play don't get me wrong and he is a GREAT kid besides but don't think he'll ever see a Hoya uniform.

If only we could bring back Ben Gillery for another year, problem solved.

Do we need to bring back Paschal Fleury? We could use the size. Although what Chris doesn't have in size, he makes up for with heart! Saw him battling under the boards several times tonight while our 3 and 5 bolted up the floor after challenging 3 balls.

Saw this on ESPN2 tonight, 12pts 7 boards and 12assists, responsible for roughly 36-37 of our pts (I think one assist led to a 3pt play by Chris). That's almost 50% of our offense. I hope he continues to "struggle". Do you really believe that Demarcus Cousins and Derrick Favors will be in THE LEAGUE after their first contract? Do names like Stanley Roberts and Luther Wright ring a bell? Greg is far more advanced than either one of those guys. We don't ask him to hit the face up jumper from the elbow but he's more than capable and his passing skills, well, watch the highlights of the Providence game on ESPN.

IMO its Vaughn hands down. Last year Julian had extremely limited post moves and aside from put backs wasn't much of threat in the post. This year he has the half hook and has shown the ability to score on turnarounds/facing up. He's our best OFFENSIVE rebounder and alters/blocks so many shots. His understanding of the offense is evident as he no longer just kicks the ball back to the guards but can feed the post on high-lows and find the occasional cutter.

Frankly I could give a RATS A** what the NBA scouts think, they all had Sam Bowie pegged as a can't miss prospect and Kwame Brown was going to be dominate once he "matured". Greg is NOT Patrick, Alonzo,Dikembe or Roy. He has attributes of all of them. I think people mislabel him as playing soft or disappearing in games because he isn't a selfish, ego maniac who has to be the center of attention. Greg has the maturity of a man twice his age, plays under control and picks his spots wisely (especially when playing with 3+ fouls). What the NBA doesn't see in him, III does and if they don't want him for 2 more years after this then their loss is our gain. David Robinson and Patrick both stayed four years, received their degrees and money and fame. If that is Greg's fate, I'm quite sure he can live with it.

Julian's intensity and nose for the ball on the boards is NIIIIIIIIIICCCE. Henry made great strides tonight and ALA the Hoyas of old, blocked a couple of shots, keeping the ball in bounds and leading to a couple of run outs where we promptly turned the ball over but KUDOS to Julian and Henry tonight!!!

I'm sure Billy Edelin wishes them all a Merry Christmas. It is hard to get riled up over the SU analysis. As to the larger GU transfer issue, it has been an ongoing issue and most recall, I hope, that there was not some sudden drop off the cliff when JT3 took the job. Of the incoming class in fall 2001, one person graduated of the four incoming players. I don't necessarily think anyone dropped the blame for Harvey Thomas at the previous coach's doorstep, much as I don't think, for different reasons, one can necessarily drop the blame for Egerson or Jeff Green on JT3's doorstep. For one thing, Jeff is finishing his degree by all accounts and may be credited toward our APR. Of the Causey recruiting year, we batted 50% depending on how you count Townes, and my recollection is fuzzy as to what happened there. Townes went to Arkansas when Ronny Thompson, who was recruting him, left Esherick and took a job with Stan Heath as his assistant.

The "system" everyone keeps referring to is not III's and doesn't pertain to bball per se. The society in which we live has created a "me first" mentality irrespective of sport. Players are told starting at the 7-8th grade level they are the next Kobe/Lebron and are "handled" that way. Not to discount talent and its importance but the recruiting of guys like Roy,Jeff,Jonathan,Jerome Williams,Perry McDonald,Charles Smith, who develop their games and are team oriented is PARAMOUNT. We have had the Kenny Brunner's,Anthony Perry's and other much ballyhooed types who either didn't perform to expectations or were cancers to the team/community. Like Mr Miyagi said "You must have balance". The recruiting of guys like Nakita/Omar, essentially role players, to augment Austin,Greg,Hollis...guys with much more impressive credentials highlights that but unfortunately even those players get caught up in the "I want to be THE MAN" hype. Jerelle and Vee are guys I hope we can keep around because they are exactly the blue collar types who could turn into the next Jerome or Jon W.

I thought going to the 2-3 zone in the second half the bottle up Jeff Adrien and Got Thabeat was a real key. The You Conns don't shoot the ball very well from deep. Gtown administration should lock up coach with massive cash/benes.
