just to clarify, he could project out to that type of talent if he keeps working.
The good hands, soft touch, jump hook..it's there. He still has a lot of work to do, most notably on his conditioning and explosiveness. (I'm sure our first images of Mike are junior year when he was dunking everything, Meeks has a long way to go to get there).
He's just 15, so a long way to go (game and recruitment wise). Just don't want people to be confused and become disappointed when they see highlights of him.

Recent Rivals article says that his favorites are UNC and Georgetown. Has consistently said Hoyas are his favorites. Think it's time to offer this guy, Top 20 in his class.

I'd rather have a true center. I think Hoyas have enough 6'8 PF/C already, but he is skilled.

Yeah tough situation. Don't want to be in a position where we wait on Noel and then all the guys like Meeks sign elsewhere and we're left holding the bag if noel goes elsewhere. The competition for noel is fierce so i don't feel tooconfident waiting on him. that's the problem with so few ships for 13.

I think if we can get Meeks to commit, take it in a heartbeat. Top 50 prospect on all services, Top 20 on Scout. Big body, good skill package. IMO we can/should take 2 more big men between 2012 and 2013. If Noel wants to come we'll find room for him, and I think he and Meeks would fit nicely together. The 'ship for Meeks would take us out of the hunt for guys like Anya, Parker (2012), Austin Colbert etc. I think we'd find one for Noel if we needed one--and my guess is that recruitment could take a while anyway. It's funny though, a couple years ago when our team was getting pushed around by guys like DaJuan Blair, Onuaku etc. our fans were DESPERATE for a big guy with some girth, but we couldn't find one--Benimon was the closest we could scrounge up . Now a couple years later here we are with a very bulky, unanimously Top 50 big man feeling the Hoyas, and our fanbase is a little lukewarm on him. These days everybody is more worried about "athletes" and guys who play "above the rim". I think those players are great too, and a blend is ideal, but if a Top 50 big guy wants to be a Hoya, I think we gotta snap him up in a second. Our frontcourt (4/5 spots) last year was pretty terrible, and it may be only a little better this year. We need a talent upgrade first and foremost, and Meeks is a step in that direction. We'll find room for Noel when/if that comes to pass.

only player we should be waiting on is kyle.....waiting on noel would be too high risk. should kyle go another direction...we should gladly accept commitments from guys like Upshaw, Meeks, Domingo and Rose.

I just think Upshaw may have more potential long term and is a legit 6'11 with skills.

Agree with not waiting on Noel to give this kid an offer. If Meeks wants to come, you take him. If Noel is scared of playing with Meeks, then that says something about Noel. They clearly play different positions and bring different skill sets.

I just think Upshaw may have more potential long term and is a legit 6'11 with skills. Agreed. However, we're not going to know about Upshaw's willingness to commit until the spring and as of right now, we're 1 of 9 players for his services. I wouldn't try to stall Meeks while we wait around for Upshaw.

MD just got a committment from Shaquille Cleare.
From what I've heard Hoyas have offered Upshaw, btw.
Maybe I'm just enamoured with a 6'11 kid, but I saw how Roy turned out and this kid is ahead of Roy at the same stage.

I didn't follow high recruiting/rankings at the time Wesley Wilson came to Georgetown....how highly ranked was he?
Would Wilson be considered more of a dissappointment then say HS thus far?
