Patrick, don’t know if u heard, Q is leaving and even though u aren’t necessarily the same type player, there are minutes galore for a scorer/rebounder. Signed- Hoya Nation

Maybe his growth plates are closed but his development as a player and the DAWG mentality he brings are a pleasure to watch. He plays BOTH ends of the floor and I hope he stays put for 3 more years

Dante Harris is THE point guard for this team. Hats off to Pickett; his D on the bearded one was BIG!

Phantom foul, he doesn’t play D we say why didn’t he defend. Camera shows no touch. Ball doesn’t lie

I will reiterate that Jalen is a turnover machine and poor shooter, glimpses of good play while here at Arkansas but forced out by MUCH younger players via recruiting. Let Dante run the show; better shot, just as quick, defense may be Jalen’s lone edge but a hungry Dante can improve with games. I’m not a coach or talent evaluator but after the first half; turned off the TV and told my son, Jay Wright will adjust at halftime and we will lose. I have too much experience with US

Don’t want to throw a wet blanket over a win but...26 turnovers! Not acceptable

I think by middle of season he will be starting point guard is better then Jalen Harris now in my opinion.just a matter of time.go gu. It's really hard to make any conclusions after 1 game and Jalen just looked really off...but I have that same opinion...Dante just feels like the better player using the eye test. Will be a great problem to have if Dante does end up being the better player... Truth, Jalen was forced out at Arkansas b/c better freshman we’re coming in, I live in Arkansas. D Harris is our answer, Jalen will have moments but he’s a TO machine and coupled with a terrible outside shot...not an upgrade. Playing the frosh has waaay more upside

Because it's fresh on my mind... we are up 9 with 1:15 to go and our senior leaders Blair and Pickett each jack up hurried shots with 12 and 19 left on the shot clock to give UMBC a chance to come back? We're on Year 4 of being unable to understand time and score situations at the end of games. I expect better by now. Overall, an ugly game that doesn't bode well for the rest of this season. As someone put it earlier in the thread, it's a good thing UMBC is a small team that can't shoot. We gave up a lot of open looks and didn't pay for them. That won't happen as the schedule gets tougher. I know we'll have better FT shooting days, but 20 TOs can't be blamed entirely on rust or new guys needing time to gel; a lot of poor decision making and carelessness continue to persist. This is an accurate assessment Couple player observations. First, the bad. For those looking for the big senior leap from Pickett and bought into the Twitter hype, he's the same guy. We don't have better options, but we will be limited as long as he's logging 35+ minutes a night at the 4. J Harris is extremely one-dimesional; if people thought Mosely didn't do anything on the court (which I disagree with), Harris does even less. Aside from facilitating a couple nice runouts, was mostly invisible on both ends of the floor. Timmy showed about 90% of the awkwardness that he did last year, which is fine if you're a 3rd string 5 eating token minutes. It's a bigger problem if you're the backup 5 expected to log 10-15 MPG behind a foul prone starter. The good. Kobe Clark was by far the biggest positive takeaway from tonight. He was active on both ends, didn't mind the physicality, and played within himself. I thought Wilson gave some good minutes; obviously still needs to work on his strength and skill, but the same things I said about Clark apply to Wilson too. If Timmy continues to make dumb mistakes, I could see the minutes distribution change a bit at the backup 5 as the season progresses. I also thought D Harris gave good minutes as well and showed that the distance between him and J Harris isn't that big. About what we expected: Blair is more or less the same as well; he did a great job tonight hitting the glass and following up his own misses, but will that be there when the competition gets tougher? I would put Q in this category as well; he imposed his will on both ends in the second half, but still can't stay away from the silly fouls and gave up a few drives to the rim when he was slow to recover. Carey provided some offense in spurts during the first half and looks comfortable shooting when set, but his efficiency dramatically declines when he's forced to put the ball on the floor and drive. Don't think that BE coaches won't see this and know how to game plan against it. I do think he has the ability to be a bit more consistent as the season progresses, however. Less worried about Bile (a non-impact transfer in my mind) and more about Sibley. Where was he? Didn't see any huge adjustments from the staff in Game 1 aside from going away from the press entirely. UMBC wasn't skilled enough to run a PnR game, so it remains to be seen how we handle it. Didn't like that the staff chose to eat 3 timeouts instead of focusing on getting a double digit win and avoiding the usual end game lull. Take care of business next week and see if we can figure out a way to be competitive against WVU.

Take it from me, only one Harris needs to play this year. Jalen was a TO machine here at Arkansas (where I live) and is a weak shooter. Not a good combo Lol....we don’t have a lot of options We should play the FRESHMAN, lots of teams do it and we have nothing to lose

Anyone thinking James doesn’t get a serious look should pay attention to OUR own roster. Galen is getting another shot and at this point Mr Akinjo is leaving with no actual disciplinary action. He’s a kid, moody? maybe, selfish, possibly, I have raised 3 kids thru those “phases” in young adulthood. He’s a young man, good for those of u who have always done the adult thing from an early age.

What is there to know about Kansas transfer Issac McBride, anybody? Kid is a “STUD”, he’s from Little Rock, and will likely end up with Musselman at U of Arkansas, according to local people
