Everyone wanted a Georgetown St Johns semifinal. Damn! Seton Hall is not a very good shooting team. Make them hit 10+ 3s to win. Mamu will force things.

The game is at 6:30 right? I think it's a 6pm start.

Preferred matchup in my book. We can guard them and there are no obvious mismatches plus Mamu always tries to force it versus us rather than be a passer. Hopefully Cale has another off night shooting against us since like he did last game

I'm okay with this. I feel like the Johnnies would have forced 30 TOs off us.

Pickett & Bile are gonna have to work hard defensively to corral him. Some help doubling by the centers or by the guards collapsing down will be needed. But if we keep Mamu in check, we got this. Seems you gotta hit a lot of outside shots to beat us anymore. I don't see it from Seton Hall. I like our chances.

Hoops Weiss, verteran basketball reporter and Nova fan, with some bulletin board material: A loss is gonna taste a lot worse then. Of course, a loss to the Big East Tournament champs might go down different.

Hoops Weiss, verteran basketball reporter and Nova fan, with some bulletin board material: I don’t think Weiss is a Nova fan - in fact he has historically been very partial to the Hoyas. He’s simply stating a fact - our win didn’t help Seton Hall push for a bid. Of course, who the heck cares? I’m worried about OUR push for a bid, dammit!

Hoops Weiss, verteran basketball reporter and Nova fan, with some bulletin board material: It's a factual statement--regardless of how good these teams actually are, a win against a team with Nova's computer profile goes further than a team with Georgetown's. Nonetheless, Seton Hall isn't going to be taking this game lightly. They need the win. They know how well the Hoyas have been playing and I'm sure they haven't forgotten we've beaten them once this year. Play like the last two, and we'll be playing on Saturday.

I think we have to stop Cale and Rhoden and we win the game with no problem. We can't let either of those two guys get too hot.

Friday night semis in Mr. Ewing's house. Not according to James Dolan, the worst owner in professional sports. But in all seriousness, the formula for winning this one is the same it's been the last 6 weeks. Win the rebounding battle (+14 vs. Marquette, +7 vs. Nova. Limit turnovers (doing a decent job of it so far in NYC with 12 TO/g). Effective closeouts on the other team's best shooters and dare the other team's 4th/5th option to beat you. Obiagu and Samuel are not legitimate threats from deep or even passable in the PnR; need Q and Tim to stay at home, defend the paint and limit easy attempts near the rim. Expect Pickett to get another call to defend Mamu; the winner of that matchup will really have a leg up in determining the winner of this one. This is a game where our rebounding will be tested; the team that wins the glass and puts up more 2nd chance points will have a big edge. Can't have another no-show from Bile in this one; the activity level has to be high but controlled. We did a great job in the 2nd game of not helping off of Cale and Reynolds from deep. Need to stay disciplined again. Any long 2s, even if from Rhoden, is a win for the defense. If we keep field goal attempts fairly even and continue to get to the line as often as we've done post-COVID break, I like our chances shooting against anyone in this tournament, Creighton included. It's when we don't put in the effort on the glass and take care of the ball where we really struggle. Entirely winnable game, but against an extremely motivated team that is looking for payback for a few weeks ago and knows we are likely the only team standing between them and securing an at-large. Know SHU is going to come out with a lot of physicality, so our energy level and focus need to be high at the tip, not after Ewing calls his first timeout at the 18 minute mark. Hope our guys come out ready to play.

I had recency bias to our last game when Mamu played well. But we won that game. Cale & Rhoden led them in the first game and that killed us. Still think we’ll need stronger games from Bile & Pickett though. Would love another complete defensive performance here.

Rhoden had 16 rebs today...got to be alert/aware in boxing him out...bigs have to pump fake/go up and under against Obiagu to help neutralize his shot blocking and still enable us to score in the paint...will be a tough game...got to out rebound and out shoot them, and be strong/take care of the ball...GO YOU HOYAS...REFUSE TO LOSE!!!
