Vaughn is so fundamentally sound. He rebounds without going over the back. He blocks shots without going for pump fakes and leaving his feet. He's an underrated passer and becoming very effective running the offense from the top of the key. I further admire his intensity on the court. After a made bucket bucket the guy sprints back to his defensive position....no wasted time celebrating. Love this kid.

Add to that underrated post player.
I am going to nominate Vaughn one of the five most improved Hoyas from one year to the next in the modern era. He along with Shenard, Smitty, Butler, and JJ comprise my list

Most improved player on the team Has the inside game we all wish Monroe had Confident JV has been great but Gregs presence is one of the reasons he has room to operate. Love this team! GREAT job by Henry tonight too

Ill give it to rich, he called Henry's game.
But re Julian, I think he fits so well with Greg. Lets Greg play more in the high post like he should (and like he will at the next level), and just looks miles more confident. The only critique I have is I wish he would roll a little more off the high picks he sets. I'm sure he's just following what the game plan is, but he tore up Marquette with that. Would like to see that a little more.

Julian Vaughn is looking so good that I'm beginning to think he has a shot at an NBA career.

Julian Vaughn is looking so good that I'm beginning to think he has a shot at an NBA career. I was thinking this today too. He'll need to keep working, maybe develop a handle, increase his % on the jump shot, etc. But he has the building blocks to do it, and he's obviously willing to work hard enough to develop entirely new skill sets.

A great play in the low post tonight when he backed his man down and bumped him underneath the basket to get the extra room for an uncontested layup.
A little too leaky at times on weak side rebounding for my liking, but there's much else to like. Definitely picks his spots well...and he was getting great low post position and sealing off all night, just couldn't get it to him enough.

He has become my favorite player on this team. Love his "professionalism," for lack of a better word, out there. Very strong fundamentally, in terrific shape. chep3's point about Greg is well taken, though - SH made their run after Greg sat down.

Another nice play took place when JV had the ball at the free throw line extended and delivered the perfect backdoor pass to a cutting Wright along the baseline. It was Monroe-esque!

Had the pleasure of meeting him last year's graduation ceremony for the College when he was there to see Jessie recieve his diploma. I cannot begin to tell you how nice he was to my 8 year son.

Many guys stepped up their game tonight - Clark, JV, Henry, CW, etc.
However, just to focus on JV, his confidence level this season on both sides has been great. He has the physical tools, but now that he seems to know his role with Monroe and understand the offense, his play will no doubt win us games this season. Maybe he is sahring his secret with Henry, because he looked a lot more decisive tonight as well.

I bumped into Vaughn a few times when I worked at the Library (he did a lot of his schoolwork there). He may have been one of the most polite students I ever came across.
His improvement (and Jason's too) is the big reason this team is way better (and more likeable) than last year's squad.

I love the fact that Julian and Henry have that "take no prisoners" attitude, a trait sorely lacking from last year's team.

Julian's intensity and nose for the ball on the boards is NIIIIIIIIIICCCE. Henry made great strides tonight and ALA the Hoyas of old, blocked a couple of shots, keeping the ball in bounds and leading to a couple of run outs where we promptly turned the ball over but KUDOS to Julian and Henry tonight!!!

Anyone else notice that, for several offensive sets tonight, Julian started the offense at the top of the key with Monroe moving to the wing?
