I may be a little biased but Julian Vaughn has to be one of the most improved players in the country. He is becoming as reliable around the goal as Greg.

Vaughn is a beast. I love how he dunks with authority when he gets an open look. That has consistently turned the momentum our way in many games this year.
PS - I also would like to give a vote to Austin Freeman for improved player since he is pretty much automatic within a radius of 25 feet from the goal. I was shocked to see him miss that running floater midway through the second half.

A friend just sent me a text and asked did I think Monroe was actually the most improved player in the Big East, but I would have to say that Vaughn and Clark are the most improved players on this team.

IMO its Vaughn hands down. Last year Julian had extremely limited post moves and aside from put backs wasn't much of threat in the post. This year he has the half hook and has shown the ability to score on turnarounds/facing up. He's our best OFFENSIVE rebounder and alters/blocks so many shots. His understanding of the offense is evident as he no longer just kicks the ball back to the guards but can feed the post on high-lows and find the occasional cutter.

Definitely Vaughn. I thought he was going to bring the backboard down with that one dunk! Huge! He and monroe work soooo well together.

I agree. It's Vaughn. He's so far ahead of where he was last year. He does look a lot more confident with the ball in his hands. No longer does he catch the ball and become an automatic turnover. and I love the way he attacks the basket on his dunks..

I think Vaughn has an edge on Scoop Jardine or Kris Joseph in this category. Any other candidates?

Ashton Gibbs. Tim Abromitis. Jamine Peterson.

Yeah i mean objectively Gibbs is going to get it and you'd probably take RB's 3 in front of Vaughn, but he'd probably be 4th maybe 5th behind Joseph.

I would say Awesome. Everything about his game has improved, from the ppg to his leadership skills and calming influence.

Peterson was a redshirt last season. Joseph is going to get all the pub as long as
I think Julian is in the running, but he's going to need to get his ppg average into double-digits, and pick up his rebounding numbers (up to around 7-8 rpg) in order to get the necessary attention. Either that, or just put together a string of games like this one. Like, six of them.

Vaughn may be the most surprising player, but Abromitis is hands down the most improved player. The dude was the last man Notre Dame's bench last year.
Not only that, I remember watching him when he went to Farmington high in connecticut. I was shocked that he was signed by a Big East school, so now I'm even more shocked that he's become a very good player in this league.

Forget Vaughn learning new skills. Last year, he couldn't even hold onto the damn ball! It was like his hands were made of stone. This year, he's a well-rounded, tough, indispensable piece of our machine. And I like his attitude. He never looks upset, rattled, confused—nothing. He just does his business, and this year, he's doing it very very well.

I think I'd pick Abromaitis. And I'd take Gibbs and Peterson over Vaughn. On the Hoyas, I'd take Vaughn, then Austin.

Kris Joseph is going to win this thing. He comes off the bench and puts up very good numbers and he does so every game it seems. Hate to say it but you gotta give it to him.
