2 great decisions by JT3 in this game stood out to me - playing offense/defense with Monroe at about the 13 minute mark in the 2nd half and going zone during that same stretch. U-Con couldnt counter and Calhoun did nothing to adjust.
Hopefully this means the guys have learned how to put away a top opponent after our last 2 losses. This could have been one of those games and they didnt let it happen.

Additionally - great to see Austin and Vaughn come alive (albeit in significantly different ways) when the Hoyas went "heavy" to the bench. Agreed Buffalo. They played tough in there. Could we even, possibly use the term "bang"?? Jay Bilas sure likes this team!

Jay Bilas sure likes this team! How could you not? Its ability to methodically wear down an opponent is great to watch, even if you're not a Georgetown fan.

I completely agree Euro. this game showed why 3 is the best in the business. He made some great moves out there. wow. what a great game. three deserves a lot of credit.

I was actually thinking this exact thought throughout the game. This was a tour de force of coaching by III, it was splendid to watch.

JT III TOTALLY OUTCLASSED uConn and Calhoun. Watching them a few times this year and tonight - they really don't run an offense but they relied on their overpriced talent gathering to beat lesser teams. They seem lazy, undisciplined and just relied on out talenting and out muscling teams - CANNOT DO THAT Against THESE HOYAS --- DAMN PROUD OF THOSE GUYS!! HOYA SAXA!!

Agreed completely. This might be the best game JTIII has coached. The team was completely prepared, never let down, made adjustments to UConn's adjustments after the half, repeatedly made smart substitutions/smart decisions, and the players never once looked overwhelmed or confused. They looked like the #2 team in the country out there instead of UConn. Any of my previous criticisms of JTIII in previous big games I take back completely. JTIII absolutely showed he can be a great big game coach. Just wonderful all the way around. I am more than happy to eat crow all night long for that win. brasky, SFHoya, et al, you were right. I was wrong. I promise to never doubt JTIII again.

Great job. And loved watching DS going right at Thabeet. Offset the BS call against Greg in the 1st.

To be fair, how difficult is it to outcoach Jim Calhoun?

Coach just always proves how much more he knows than anyone else about his team. He pressed all the right buttons tonight whether it be Monroe's foul management, the 2-3 zone that stuffed UConn or his ability to get the boys to come out strong on both ends and take any homecourt UConn had and shove it down the toilet.
I think we all need to learn the "preseason" to JT3 is truly a time to tinker and figure out his team. No one can judge it. Once the BE starts, he shows his true genius.

I think you are exactly right. I think it's a holdover from his days at Princeton where you only got in to the Tourney by winning the conference. As much as I would love to win every game, I will never doubt his preseason tinkering again after this season. He's earned the trust to believe he knows how to get his team prepared for the conference season (in all fairness, he earned that before this year, but I just got caught up in wanting to win every game and lost sight of how he always gets the right lineup going for conference play).

I thought going to the 2-3 zone in the second half the bottle up Jeff Adrien and Got Thabeat was a real key. The You Conns don't shoot the ball very well from deep. Gtown administration should lock up coach with massive cash/benes.

Loved the switch to the zone in the second half. I was most fearing Thabeet getting hot in the second half, and although Price got those down low shots several times, we cut out the paint and made it very difficult for them to score. I personally loved when they showed Calhoun with no jacket, tie pulled down, and top button unbottomed
