Staff really likes Cheatham and thinks he'd play an important role for us.....he, along with bacon, dozier and Dorsey all have committable offers.....we'd happily take any of these guys. While I would love to know exactly where each kid ranks in terms of priority to the staff....I just don't go there. I know who they love and who they like but not in any particular order. Recruiting is such a thankless job that if you start listing priorities it's as if you are setting yourself to be disappointed. In the end, Cheatham is in the top tier of guys we are after. That sounds like exactly the way to do it--a tier of guys w committable offers, a tier of guys w conditional offers, and, sometimes, a "save a scholarship no matter what" recruit (I'd assume that's Rabb this year, but that there isn't always a guy like that that we are on) Thanks again for all the info B&G

I'd put my money on BC getting him.. Poor kid. Well, there's two things you never hear in the same sentence: "Money" and "Boston College"

I mean DSR may get the most minutes on the team and rightly so - I was referring to the optimal pressing lineup. Haha, I figured as much. His absence just loomed so large that I couldn't resist making a comment.

Also, if JT3 doesn't press with these guys he's crazy.....I would have a lineup with Bowen at the top of the press, Trawick and Peak just behind them, and Copeland and Hopkins behind. That team would wreck havoc and get after people. And we'd have more highlight reel dunks than Florida Gulf Coast. Then when the other team gets a little frazzled I would bring in Campbell to chase everyone around. And heck, every once in awhile you could put in our leading scorer from last year, just to mix things up.

From the "you can't wash away the stink of Syracuse" department, noted scholar alum Donte Greene involved in nightclub brawl resulting in tasers being used to subdue the miscreants. Probably started as a result of an academic disagreement... In that Donte Greene got into a disagreement because he thought someone calling him an "academic" was an insult?

FedEx' stock is up 50% in the past year. You're really worried about Ole Miss money?

This is Georgetown--put him in #33 and Govan in #55. I believe 33 is still retired. Wasn't it only worn by PE Jr. upon approval by Big Pat? As Elvado said, its not retired. JT3 had PE2 ask Alonzo's permission to wear it though. Presumably Ivan would need to ask PE2/Alonzo/PE. Of course, Trey might want to wear #33, so Ivan might have to establish his own number / pick a different line to follow. He could always go with #32 for Jeff Green, or #10 for Greg Monroe. blog.washingtonpost.com/dcsportsbog/2006/10/jtiii_talks_to_us.html

Who's got the time and Photoshop skills to post a pic of Ivan in a Georgetown jersey? Preferably #23. Aaron will be done with the number before Ivan needs it This is Georgetown--put him in #33 and Govan in #55.

Pretty stupid of Danny Ainge to help create a legitimate title threat for the next four years in the Cavs, instead of letting LeBron waste away on an aging Heat team. In other words, the Celtics are less relevant to the NBA right now than the Timberwolves. Heck of a rivalry they've got going with the Lakers over who can serve as the best dumping ground for salaries that title contenders are trying to get rid of.

Not to mention the fact that the backcourt when Rabb would be here will have a senior DSR and sophomore Peak and Campbell. And Copeland might be able to play shooting guard as well. Thats if DSR doesn't have the breakout year that many seems to think he might and opts out to the draft. I don't just want a body we need quality and kids who can contribute at a high level right away if we are to come close to expectations that some here have for 15-16. If DSR opts for the draft, that definitely changes my expectations for 2015-16. I have a hard time seeing him go early though, even with a big year.

I'm not going to lose sleep over what Rabb does if he comes fine. Govan is not too shabby and is clearly becoming one of the top true centers in this class. Everyone should be more concerned with the quality of the backcourt going forward. Getting Rabb and a quality backcourt aren't mutually exclusive things. We can get both. And getting Govan AND Rabb is great because they can play at the same time. Rabb looks more like a 4 to me, while Govan is more of a pure back to the basket center. You could have Ike at the 3 in that line up. Also, getting Rabb could very well lure a top guard. And finally, getting Rabb would put us over the top and really get us into the realm of being a championship quality team, propelling us into an 80's era dynasty. So, yeah, you might not want to lose sleep, but don't pretend like he wouldn't be a HUGE get. Not to mention the fact that the backcourt when Rabb would be here will have a senior DSR and sophomore Peak and Campbell. And Copeland might be able to play shooting guard as well.

The good news, of course, is that the NCAA has established some very clear rules and precedent that will allow JT3 to determine ahead of time whether and how this impacts Papagiannis' ability to play at Georgetown.
hahaha, just kidding. He's as likely to get our title from 1984 vacated as he is to be able to play in college without some kind of suspension

So essentially we really don't want Ghana to win and we're mostly good right? Even if we lose? Right. If Ghana doesn't win, the only way we don't advance is if Portugal somehow makes up that 5 goal lead we have in differential

Love elite defenders on our team, but we cannot be caught again with 4 vs 5 on offense under JT3... Kid is a very good finisher and his stroke is improving. So, is it fair to say Jabril's a good comparison? Good defender, can get to the hoop, has the potential to be a decent/good shooter?

I do not believe that the Bowen comparison is appropriate. Josh is already an elite defender and would come in as the best defending guard that we have had since AI. As Rayshawn Reed's only fan, I take exception to that statement. Ray Reed was the Mikael Hopkins of guards.

Can someone explain to me why exactly he was voted out? It's not like he was a moderate who was brokering deals with the White House, if anything his reputation was that he scuttled numerous budget compromises and torched deals by walking out of meetings. The only thing I've seen is that he favored immigration reform. Is immigration really that big of an issue in the Richmond area? Based on what I've been seeing, it was probably a combination of a lot of things--his willingness to broker comprehensive immigration legislation was part of it, but he also didn't pay attention / put much effort into his district, so his constituents didn't trust him / saw him as captured by business interests / DC (he had a fundraiser in DC the morning of the primary, for example) and he ran a poor campaign, combining a heavy negative ad campaign that served to legitimize Brat as a contender (and mainly made Cantor look bad) with an air of inevitability that meant his supporters weren't really motivated b/c they didn't see a threat. Honestly, I think it was a lot like what ended up costing Jim Oberstar his election in 2010. A bad campaign, a horrible effort keeping in touch with his district and a hot button issue (abortion in Oberstar's case, immigration here).

Boston, Chicago and Pittsburgh have all had the chance the last several years to establish their own dynasties (or as close an approximation of one as the NHL will allow). Who would have thunk that it would be the Kings who would outshine them all? Anyway, thanks for showing up Rangers. If it makes you feel any better, I doubt any other team in the East would have fared much better than you. PS - The Penguins are Duke or Syracuse. The Kings? They're more Michigan State-ish, if you ask me. (PPS - As long as we're talking comparisons: Sorry for saying this, Caps, but you're starting to get a very College Park-like aroma about you...) Really good regular seasons followed by upsets early in the playoffs? Missed the playoffs this past season? As much as I really don't want to say it, I think you picked the wrong major college basketball program from the DC area to compare the Caps too.

I'd say the Blackhawks have an equal claim to best team of the past five seasons--they have 2 Cups, 1 conference finals appearance and 2 other playoff berths, which is the same resume the Kings have (and each has beat the other in the conference finals).
