RDF, good to hear on Samuels -- he is a tremendous prospect. He is from Jamaica -- can we get the 'Big Fella' to get involved and give him a call?

Ewing and Pearl Washington squaring off in the '85 Big East Tournament is a highlight. Michael Graham mixing it up with Hawkins in the '84 Big East Final was a major incident too. Of course we won both those games.

Freeman, Wright, and a quality big man ............this would be a wonderful scenario and the foundation for continued success. Among other things, I really like how the staff has spread out the recruiting among classes -- while next year (class of 08) shapes up to be a big one for us, in general we don't have to worry about one huge make-or-break year in which we need to absolutely reload. Having said that, it would be nice if at least two of the class of Sapp, Egerson, Spann, and Thornton would emerge this year as impact guys. Sapp I am confident is going to be one.

Columbia -- how would you break down Summers game from Kenner? What have you liked about it? I saw him once in the Nike game at the Garden and really liked what I saw as well.

Is anyone else tired of Boeheim every year saying that he has the best incoming freshman?

Interesting how someone mentions John Thompson was at almost every game -- we all know the rap that he gets for not being an active recruiter in the later years. Good to see that the young JTIII is taking after the young JT.

Just picked it up -- great article and photo! For someone like me who has not seen the Kenner, I cannot believe how sleek and ripped Roy looks!

I've been reading about how Burrell has been abusing Hickson -- as you allude to, I wonder if the staff is re-thinking the agressive recruitment of Hickson.

I agree on Jeff -- without having any sources, there is little doubt Jeff is an NBA pick next year....I mean, he probably would have been a first round/borderline lottery pick this year. Every prognosticator has him as a lottery guy, and he gets better every day....what more is there?
I know Chris Wright & family are probably skittish about the recruiting process given their experience with NC State & Sendek, but if we make an offer there is 100% chance there will be a spot for him one way or another.

The one thing I would say on this one is that the interview was with a Depaul website I believe -- I don't blame kids for telling fans of various schools that there is no leader. So I guess what I'm saying is that I don't perceive the situation to be that we've lost ground or anything. Clearly he is taking his time, and I still hope that we are in good shape.

Thanks MCI - you still have some of the old magic. One of the things I like that you do is focus less on production and more on a projection on how these young guys may fare. For example, the things I am curious about with Rivers are his athletic ability, size, and competitiveness -- all of which sound great. Kind of how he seems on the floor with this level of competition. He also sounds like a heady ballhandler/distributor -- I'm assuming this means he's dribbling well with both hands & with his head up. Like you said hopefully confidence with the shot will come.
Similarly with Macklin I don't know why people are getting crazy about some dropped passes and missed foul shots (though I admit these things can mean the difference between wins and losses) -- bottom line is the guy sounds like a ridiculous athlete with a great frame. If he's a junior and still dropping passes and bricking FTs, we may have a problem.
Seperately, hopefully we see Sapp be more aggressive as the Kenner winds down.

Thanks FL for the recap! I didn't think I could be more excited for next year, but I am now at an all-time high. Especially good to see our guards dropping 20+ and hitting threes. And yes, if FL is out this week, I would love to see a patented MCIGuy report.....these reports have become very addictive!

I strongly agree with MCI -- it seems like it hurts our program more than it helps to speculate about things like this on a public message board. It's kind of like what I would post on a UCONN message board to instigate or stir the pot or something.

I for one definitely care about that -- would love to figure out a way to get both Wright and McClain and call it a day. We arguably need a big man a lot more than another guard, as dynamic as Wright is said to be. It would be painful to see 'Biggie' in another uniform -- if he ends up in Orange that would be a nightmare.

One thing we do know is that certain guys did not do enough to earn minutes this past year --this is irrefutable.
By the way, CSTV has a show from last year's ABCD Camp. Scottie Reynolds performs extremely well here -- in one game he drops 19 on OJ Mayo's team and is going right at Mayo.

Do you have any special insight into Spann's game? ie have you heard practice reports or basing it on seeing him in the kennar? just asking because the skepticism comes from the fact that no one has seen him, regardless of whether his lack of minutes was justified or not.
