Julian Campbell, a 6-10 post from the Worldwide Renegades lists Florida, Miami (FL), Tennessee, Kentucky, St. John's, Georgetown, Rhode Island, and Florida Atlantic. He is a kid who is from Durham, NC and made his name the week before destroying James Hickson in a matchup. He was invited by the WW Renegades AAU team to play and he took minutes from Hickson--who sat the entire 2nd Half of the first AAU game. Hickson is undersized and has trouble with athletic posts like SJU bound Justin Burrell--who has destroyed him head to head 3/4 times. GU started to contact Gamble but he's got 3 others leading.

I've been reading about how Burrell has been abusing Hickson -- as you allude to, I wonder if the staff is re-thinking the agressive recruitment of Hickson.

Hickson has been killing people all summer. Good for Burrell that he got the better of Hickson, but Hickson is clearly a top 20 player, and he has been scoring on EVERYONE all year. We'd take him in the blink of an eye - maybe even before Chris Wright.

Hickson has been killing people all summer. Good for Burrell that he got the better of Hickson, but Hickson is clearly a top 20 player, and he has been scoring on EVERYONE all year. We'd take him in the blink of an eye - maybe even before Chris Wright. Hickson has NOT been killing people and as Dave Telep stated the other day "maybe one of the most disappointing players on the circuit this Spring/Summer"--he has been scoring some points now and then but he has been abused on other end, has been less then stellar on the glass, and is basically playing himself out off a lot of teams recruiting boards. Scoring is only PART of the game and it's when he faces better competition he tends to get abused--which is what you face if you want to play Elite level basketball. Chris Wright is priority #1 for Hoyas Staff right now and that is a fact--so that answers the part about "taking Hickson over Wright". If GU were to take a forward over Wright, the only possibility is Anthony Randolph based on size/skill level but it's unknown how he feels about Hoyas--GU is listed in his top 8 but word is other teams are leading. Randolph is a 6'10 PF with SF skills and has only played the sport for 2 years competitively. He's considered a top 5 prospect already and has tons of room for improvement. You take a chance on someone like that--in his clips he's reminiscent of Chris Bosh in frame but has some nice handle for a big guy and a sweet jumpshot. At this time with the scholarship situation as is, it's Chris Wright and then everyone else---but that can/will change if more spots open up. However the info on Hickson is absolutely false as he's had an average to below average showing most of the Summer and just getting destroyed by taller/athletic players. He's not a PF/C at the Big East level either--too short and not good enough on defensive end. Very turnover prone and has trouble scoring on taller defenders--Biggie McClain caused him to travel/hesitate and commit turnovers or take terrible shots due to being too big which Burrell is not only bigger/quicker, but explosive and just dunks on him and takes rebounds away. That's why the WW Renegade team added Trevor Mbakwe and Julian Gamble to their roster for the Vegas Tournament. (Mbakwe might play for Hickson's HS team this year too)
