I don't know if you guys care now that Wright seems to be Gtown's #1 priority, but McLain just said Gtown is not his leader and he has a top 5 of Gtown, Wake, Uconn, Cuse, and someone else. I'm guessing he may be out of luck if only one ship opens up.

I for one definitely care about that -- would love to figure out a way to get both Wright and McClain and call it a day. We arguably need a big man a lot more than another guard, as dynamic as Wright is said to be. It would be painful to see 'Biggie' in another uniform -- if he ends up in Orange that would be a nightmare.

When the guard in question is perhaps the best in his class (at least among pure points) than that's where the need is greatest. I'll take Wright and never look back. If McClain waits, I think we'll have room for him too, but don't think the staff will sweat this decision.
We will have (at least) Summers, Macklin, and Ewing coming back in 2007, and they'll hold down the fort just fine until the calvalry arrives. Meanwhile, we'll have the best young backcourt in the nation with Austin and Chris (along with Wallace, Sapp, and whoever else is still around).

hoyaatwake - who did Mclain say was his leader? Or did he simply say gtown is not the leader?

he just said gtown isn't the leader and gave a list of the five named schools. he had previously identified the hoyas as leading.

Nyc are you saying that McClain doesn't have us at the top of his list or Wright doesn't?

does hurt but would rather be at wrights top than biggie hard to say that but if id have to pick the 1/2 positions are more shaky than the 4/5

StPete, McClain came out and said GTown was no longer his leader but that the Hoyas were still in the mix. Then again a month ago one report came out which had Chris Braswell claiming that Gtown wasn't the leader either but all reports before and since have indicated the Hoyas are indeed his top choice at this point. So who knows. I would hate to choose between Wright and McClain but at this point I am leading towards the point guard. But my vote doesn't matter. At least Braswell is an '08 recruit when the Hoyas will have more breathing room

I just read through the posts in this thread, and I didn't see anyone giving credit to JT3 for being involved with such incredible recruits... let alone that he might actually make the best decision for the program. Maybe we should reflect on that. McLain vs. Wright? If JT3 thinks we need Wright more then I am all about agreeing with and supporting him.
What if Jeff and Roy are still here, and we add Wright because someone else left? We now have the exact opposite of our previous problem when we didn't have an in with ANY of the top kids. Now it seems like we have too many! I'll take this "problem" any day.

The Biggie thing is not that bad. He has always and still does like Georgetown a LOT. There has been a lot of wacky stuff around his recruitment, including his Coach saying that he already knew where he was going, and Anthony saying he would wait until spring of senior year despite having numerous offers and the ability to commit to a lot of places long before that. The one thing that hasn't changed is that Anthony really likes Georgetown.
The problem is, without a doubt, scholarships. I honestly think that if Biggie is willing to wait until the late signing period, there will be a scholarship for him, regardless of whether we land Chris Wright or not. And because Biggie does love GU so much, I think he will wait, and if GU doesn't have a 'ship for him, there will be a lot of other schools willing to accomodate him (our friends in College Park, for starters). So for now, I think that's probably what you will see happen, and the questions will be whether our young stars decide to head to the league early, and/or will anybody on our team decide that the minutes aren't coming for them, and they'd rather try their hand elsewhere. That's what will determine if Biggie will be a Hoya or not.

Let's face it -- III is trying to perform a heroic balancing act -- given our chances of getting Wright, McClain, and Braswell despite brutal scholarship limitations. Moreover, it seems that III is not one of those slickster coaches (yes, Jay Wright, I'm looking at you) who would essentially force a current player out to get a new recruit. And that's a good thing.
Let's just hope that it all works out. I would hate to see McClain go to UConn or SU.

We don't have schollie problems for 2008, so I don't think we have to choose b/w Braswell and McClain (and, after seeing Braswell on Sat. at McD, he looks like he needs to grow an inch or 2 to be a legitimate 6'8). We should have lots of scholarships available after the Roy-Jeff-JW-Crawford class leaves. It's a matter of how many schollies are open for the 2007 recruits.

Wright in 07 & Braswell in 08 > McClain in 07 Totally irrelevant. The question is whether we'd prefer Wright and Braswell or McClain and Braswell.
