I think we can all see that this board's critiques and slams of Nate Lubick were unfounded. That glue guy helped win the Big East - and close down Syracuse in the carrier dome. There is more to basketball than flashy highlight reels. You will one day tell your kids about how great GT basketball was when Nate Lubick was on the team - the program will continue to decline....

As for Lubick and Hopkins, watching them play for four years was the most excruciatingly painful experience of my 50 years of Hoya watching. Apparently you stopped watching during the Esherick years. Also, tell us about the pre-JT2 years. Those must've been fun to watch, especially that 71-72 team.

One of the things that worked well tonight was Hop and Moses playing at the same time. Hop at 6'11" and Moses at '6"10 play well on defense together. They did a great job of blocking and cutting off inside plays. Moses at 5 and hop at 4 works well. Moses did well and got nice opening when Hop would go to the top for a high post. Hop's defender didn't follow him out on the wings and left the mid-range wing shot open, which Hop can make consistently (sadly chose to go to the hoop to take on two defenders rather than the mostly open look). This pairing didn't work so great when Nate came in or subbed Moses out. Moses and Nate work okay, but not ask well as Moses and Hop. I disagree. Nate creates offense. When you get a few touches game it is hard to get going. JTIII must get Markel and DSR to get the others involved.

Not to pile on Lubick, who seems like a great representative of the university and will undoubtedly be successful in life. However, this is what he's put up through 14 games so far this season: 5.8 ppg, 6.3 rpg (he is our leading rebounder), and 1.9 apg in 26.7 minutes. I would think there's an argument that could be made that he is our best front court defender, as well (Moses would be in that discussion, too, except for the fouling). Interestingly, he's shooting 44% from the free throw stripe, on just 16 attempts (as a point of comparison, Smith has 63 attempts, Trawick 49, Hopkins 39, and Bowen 24). His free throw rate shows how soft Lubick has been playing on the offensive end. As a senior and with these contributions, I think Lubick is generally a valuable member of the team and should get decent minutes. However, I also think he's getting too much run and the team would be better off with him playing closer to 15-20 minutes. Who gets those extra 5-10 minutes? I think it has to be some combination of Hopkins (6.8 ppg, 5.1 rpg in 18 mpg) and Cameron (2.8 ppg, 1.2 rpg in 8.9 mpg). Lubick has regressed from last season when he provided 7.1 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 3 apg and shot 65% from the free throw line. The guy's never been a good offensive player but he's gotten worse, and I think we know all we're going to know about Nate Lubick at this point in his career. I have a hard time imagining that shifting 5-10 minutes of Nate's time to somebody with more offensive ability will have a detrimental effect on the team. From the outside, it's not like he's providing some great leadership qualities that would make up for this lack of production. You are joking right? Do you watch the games...Lubick is a commander on the floor...he has been for years...he is constantly barking for other players to correct their position - Can he look to score more..absolutely...he gets bad set-ups..poor passes...the team runs better with Nate Lubick on the floor...

Anybody else notice that big Nate get few/bad passes. He dishes it out and no one returns the favor...once this is rectified he will be quite a threat!

you would have said the same thing of Henry Sims last Summer...except Nate's got more experience and is a Junior!
Wait until he is part of the play design - changes everything...
This kid is in the gym...he will light it up at Kenner...hustle, grit and smart player.....
Coach believes in him, I believe in him...and so should you...

your smoking crack if you think Hopkins easily replacing Nate Lubick - Hopkins is a work in progress...Lubick breaks out this year and shows why he has started for two seasons - and will remain starting for the duration of his time at Gtown

Nate Lubick starts game 1 next season - only way that doesn't happen is if he is off the team - he will dominate next season and I will love to repost all these silly ideas - pah-leez!

Don't you people get it? The whole reason we love college basketball is that the players/coaches are not perfect. They develop, overcome emotion. Compete with each other at a highly skilled level.
Georgetown had a top 25 team all season - competes within a tough conference.
What's not to love?? If they all played like pros it would be the NBA.
PS - did you say Lubick was a coach's son???

please...do you remember a kid who played little minutes the past three years and then finally was mentored properly...his initials are HS. Lubick has HUGE potential....icing him does not help this team now or in the future

When Yancy gates scores cincy's last 10 points in regulation...and erodes the lead we enjoyed for the entire second half...you must adjust
Lubick was the answer

How many chances will JTIII give Henry? Time to put some of that offense through Lubick early in the game. He gets motivated and his game elevates. He CAN score - just needs a crack at it. We need him to develop...

To say Lubick is not skilled is extremely short-sighted. He can develop as any college player given the opportunity. Once plays are designed to feature him he will explode (next year). He can only fight for garbage points at this time. His skill set has been well demonstrated. He makes no more mistakes than others.
