Here is a fun list of reranking last years freshman rankings. All the Hoyas moved up: Mikael 78 to 61 Jabril 80 to 57 and of course Otto 42 to 13 (Greg wasnt in the top 100 ESPN rankings, though i think he definitely played better than guys at the end of this list. On the team, he played better than Mikael, so we could put him in around there) basketballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=2330

Interesting. It's notable how few freshman really make a major impact outside of the top tier group. We've become used to the Anthony Davis's and John Wall's of the world being among the elite NCAA players, but they're really the exception.
I think Jabril, Greg, and Mikael will all be at least solid starters for us by their junior years, and they all have a ceiling that is considerably higher than that. Great recruiting class.

Yeah, it was also interesting to see that most of the guys on "good" teams, like Duke dropped in the rankings while others on lower teams went up. Im guessing this has to do with usage and there being good talent ahead of them. But some of them were just really busts.

Too bad he did not rate Greg Whittington. Though not in the preseason Top 100, Greg would clearly be ranked ahead of many on that list after just one year.

I think one or more of them will be. I was suggesting ALL will be by the junior year. If Otto is still around at that point and our 2012 and 2013 classes pan out, that's going to be a fun team.

Otto and Greg will be that this year. I believe Mikael could, if given the opportunity to replace Nate (which he should be able to do easily IMO). But Jabril will be behind Markel for 2 more years, even though he has the talent to start.

Drew Cannon, who wrote the list above, is doing lists all week. Today is the start of the top 100 players from last year. Here is the link to No. 100 to No. 61. basketballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=2338Jason at 68 and Henry at 63. Dont think that Hollis would be high than those two, but Otto might be on the next set towards the bottom (meaning closer to 60 than 20). Remember that this is from Basketball Prospectus and Drew Cannon both of which are heavily stat based. That is probably a major pat of what is driving his rankings. You've got to give him credit for going back and comparing how he did last summer when he made rankings for this past season. Not many prognosticators cop to when they are wrong (cough..espn...cough).

your smoking crack if you think Hopkins easily replacing Nate Lubick - Hopkins is a work in progress...Lubick breaks out this year and shows why he has started for two seasons - and will remain starting for the duration of his time at Gtown

What has Nate done to show he has earned a starting role? I mean, besides not being in the gym...

you would have said the same thing of Henry Sims last Summer...except Nate's got more experience and is a Junior!
Wait until he is part of the play design - changes everything...
This kid is in the gym...he will light it up at Kenner...hustle, grit and smart player.....
Coach believes in him, I believe in him...and so should you...
