Please tell me what I can look forward to next season. I came to GU with Pops. First time - long time. Never thought I would say that, so take it easy on me. Also what's with all those big guys on the bench? Are they security?

Next season - please expand the rotation. Perhaps we can improve our depth and hopefully lose a few more games, securing a 10 seed so we can avoid an embarrassing loss in the NCAAs.
hm

I want to see 5 players on the floor who are all a threat to score..that will be an improvement in itself

Starting the game with Hopkins, Lubick, and Trawick on the floor at the same time can not happen next year. Your digging a hole for yourself every darn game.

I don't think this team needs to be run and gun. I do agree, however, that in the early season more players need to get playing time. One thing is for sure, no one develops game readiness in practice alone. Hayes, Domingo, Cameron, Bolden - I want to see all of them getting at least 5-10 minutes a game in some of the bunny encounters. And not just in trash time.
Although there is clearly value to the player JTIII seems to value most highly - the 6'8", lanky, able to guard the perimeter, decent jump shooter - I think it does us harm to not strongly go after more true back to the basket players, and more smaller ball handling guards. I'm hoping Josh Smith will be effective as the former the next couple of years, but once he and Markel are gone, we must find replacements for them. Multiple replacements. DSR and Trawick have the potential to be very good players, but they are more in the mold of a Freeman style guard. Frankly, we need a couple Chris Wright type players who we can throw in when we need to go small in order to respond to a fast paced team like we always seem to find in the Tournament. We won't always need a small/quick back court. But when we do - we have to be ready. And when a sold big man - like a Yancy Gates, DeJuan Blair, etc. - comes against us, we need a body in there to shove back.
There is a lot to love about these Hoyas teams, but they are increasingly one dimensional. It seemed to work in BE play against a bunch of other plodding, defense first teams, but it leaves us exposed in these one offs against quick, pressuring, jump shooting upstarts.

Well, we're a great regular season team again next year. Whit's back, everyone is a year older. Stop me if you heard this one but we need to figure out the low post between Moses, half a year of Josh, Hayes, and (sigh) Hopkins.
I mean, we'll be good, but we were good this year and we're golfing before the second week again. If we win 25 games and lose to a school with directions and vocations in it's name, what do those wins mean? The regular season is to get a high seed so you can go deep in the tourney. We're great at the first part, not so good at sealing the deal.

I think more ballers would help anywhere. There's none on the front court and without a finisher teams can focus on whatever one or two we have out there. Chris Wright was a baller but not a finisher. Too small. 3 or 4 guys like Tom Scates will not help in practice and especially in the game. Whittington's absence caught up with us.

If Josh Smith is in shape next season, and that's a big if, he will help ALOT...there are few bigs in the country that can score like him with his back to the basket

Did the team miss Greg, yes, but the issues were still there, remember Pitt...Greg might have helped us get past Florida Gulf Coast, but then what about San Diego St and there guard play? Our guards have to play better on both ends of the floor.

Unless Mikael makes major improvements, I don't want to see him on the floor...he hasn't improved one bit in too years and in many ways his unwillingness to accept role player status, and to keep trying to score really hurt our season. Also hoping against hope that Nate's minutes dwindle to 10-15 a game....he's a role player at very very best...

Next season we play in a mid-major conference. If this is true..then we might be in trouble.. Butler, Marquette and Creighton all have games in the third round while we are sitting at home. Can the mid-major BS, our conference is fine...Stop with the elitist crap. We just got smacked on national television my Florida Gulf Coast...jeez

If I were coaching Nate would play 10 min a game, and it has little to do with him not being able to hit a jumper. He doesn't rebound. He's a turnover machine. He coughs the ball up when pressured and he doesn't block shots, or play smart basketball. Him being no offensive threat whatsoever is just icing on the cake

Every year it is practically the same teams that lose early G'town, Notre Dame, New Mexico, Temple..and I think he have the better coach out the 4 schools

Dunphy's a better coach than III...but I'll take III in a minute over Brey and Alford

Next season we play in a mid-major conference. Like Butler and Gonzaga and VCU play in this year? Frankly, I'm starting to think mid-majors are better than this overblown, over-hyper, over-physical, under-talented old Big East that we're getting the hell out of.
