Their NCAA Tournament lives probably hang in the balance here. Going to get a desperate team, gotta be ready.

I have seen Seton Hall play really well a few times this year. Let's not have any slip ups down the stretch.

I've also seen the Hall play a few good games this year, but you can make them look really bad as well. Cinci's bigs played very physical with Pope and never allowed him to get into the game. Theodore was terrible as well with his decision making, and SHU as a whole gambles a lot on the perimeter defensively. We need to be aware of this and take advantage with backcuts while minimizing turnovers caused by opposing guards shooting the passing lanes, especially to the wings.

Lic, I never would have thought that you would be a Birther. Some other posters, maybe, but not you.
I agree with you that the Hoyas have to play tough. Lunardi has the pirates as one of the last four teams in the NCAAs so they will be fighting to stay in.

If you missed the Sports Illustrated article on Pope I highly recommend it.

Its time to start playing for full 40 minute segments, no lapses.

They're going to be desperate. They really want this marquee win. Now I think at an RPI of 30 with top 50 wins over St. Joseph, WV, and Uconn that they're fine if they lose to us but beat Depaul and Rutgers. They only have 1 loss to a team with an RPI over 100 and that's Nova at 104. Wins vs VCU and @ Dayton aren't bad either.
So while I don't think they need to be desperate for a win, they probably will be so we need to be prepared.
They're a pretty good 3pt shooting team 35.8% as a team. They're even better at defending the 3 allowing 29.5%, of course not as good as us in that category. They're also much better at home than on the road.
Pope has played a lot worse in conference than he did out of conference. Basically shut down Theodore's drives, and close out on Mobley and Edwin. Do that and we should win.

IMHO, this game sets up very poorly for us. Not feeling good about this one.

I don't think this team needs to be scared of situations/ where the other team is coming from/their motivation, etc. they go out and play hard every night. Maybe they win. Maybe they lose. but for the first time in awhile, I am not worrying about the psyche of the opposing team because the Hoyas' mental makeup is where it needs to be.

Why shouldn't Georgetown be hungry/want this game? Why aren't they desperate? Last time I checked, there is a lot to play for EVERYTIME you take the court-so this "they're going to be hungry....." stuff is good for fans who anticipate the other team playing well and Hoyas possibly losing. This is like the fans who feared facing Nova in BET every damn year and that grew old as well. Unless the current team jumps into Mark Tillmon's Hot Tub Time Machine, then they'll bring current roster and defensive mentality with them. Seton Hall is a solid team and plays hard. Respect them and I respect all opposing teams (maybe not their coaches but the players I always respect ;D). There is something to be said though for "Wanting something too much" and how it effects your play. If you aren't confident and loose going into a game that wrist gets a little tight and you can play in slow motion. Rather have team take on approach we've seen all year--be confident, defend, and play hard for however long the game goes. They do that-and things will turn out well.

Agreed. Remember the ND game a few years ago where we mailed it in and forgot the stamp? That is exactly the type of effort this team NEVER gives.
It's a completely different team. We danced around the last few years with euphemisms like methodical, even keel, etc. but the Hoyas have lacked energy and enthusiasm for several years. Sure they'd get up for the big ones, who can't?
But this team gets up for them all. I don't think they'll come out flat and roll over. I think there's a better chance the Pirates go up 8-2 tomorrow night...and then the Hoyas kindly tell them they won't score for the next 7 minutes. That's why this team is not a flameout.

Are you referring to the game where Austin Freeman was in the midst of being diagnosed with Diabetes? I think they get a pass on that one. I'd say Rutgers and South Florida games that year would be better reference points.

I expect the Hoyas to play well, but SHU is playing for their NCAA life and they are a good team at home. I can see us playing well and still losing. This will be a solid BE road win and very good for our profile if we can get it. Sometimes you can bait Theodore into trying to do too much, hopefully that is the case tomorrow. Hoyas will also have to limit turnovers, SHU goes after the ball.
