SEVENTEEN rebounds for LeBlanc. Preposterous.

After the Xavier win, I thought the Hoyas could rack up 7 more wins -- but started to lose faith after we dropped that game to SHU. Shows what I know! My delusions are back in full force.
If I was an opposing fan, I would not want to see Georgetown in the BET. Our boys can clearly take any team in the BE on the right day.
Feels like this is a season of vanquishing demons -- taking down Providence at the Dunk, convincingly beating Xavier, and now whooping Villanova for the first time in way too long. Let's keep it rolling to a winning record, a strong showing in the BET, and let the chips fall where they may after that.

Finally, we win one at the Dunk. I still can’t get over this freshman class, they are awesome and only getting better with time.

We will need at least one of our guys to go off in order to win...but at this point, I feel like the Hoyas have 4 or even 5 players with the potential to explode with a monster scoring or all-around game in BE play (Govan, McClung, Akinjo, LeBlanc, Malinowski).

Now we’re talking. Tons of memorable moments in this one...McClung’s no-look pass to LeBlanc for the slam, Malinowski ripping away the offensive board, Govan making that nice end of game block, and of course the monster rebound and putback by Pickett. And Akinjo pouring it on down the stretch. This team is a LOT of fun to watch and I’m starting to delude myself that they can win 7 more...

Great news. Welcome Qudus!!
Now, I feel we are in business. With Qudus, Tim and Malcolm in the fold, if Pat can add a solid wing, then retain Yurtseven and/or bring in a quality decommit, I think a tourney berth will be in the cards.

Isn’t it possible (I have not studied up) that Hopkins has a relationship with this kid going back years, when he was originally recruiting him for Cuse? I doubt a kid from Rochester randomly goes to Washington otherwise. Ewing may be a legend but he’s only been a coach for a year plus and has been playing from behind on the 2019 class.

What an awesome win. I laughed when I saw we were favored over PC, they have owned us for years and I think Cooley is a phenomenal coach. I was shocked when each 3 to extend the game from the freshmen dropped in (the Mac shot was unbelievable). Even then I didn’t think we’d prevail in the 2nd OT. The team kept fighting and brought it home. We may not be a BE force this season, and this game may not mean a lot in the end, but for now, it feels VERY good to pick up this victory!

The recruiting is not been to great for 2019 I thought Ewing would get some better recruits. I thought he would land a couple top 50-75 caliber recruits, it is going to be hard to win unless this picks up. Wilson and the other big guy isn’t going to cut it they are projects. The staff has to land some talented forwards, and a good shooting guard or next year will be tough. I guess with the way it’s going in college basketball if you run clean program you have a hard time winning. And the ncaa isn’t going to do anything about these power house programs cheating so, Hoyas are just screwed it looks like, they can’t get a top 50 recruit. I hope they can get some very underrated recruits that can contribute right away next year.like labanc is doing this year. They need forwards and shooting guard. I hear you, but these days, the cake isn't baked for a recruiting class until we go through not only letters of intent, etc., but also decommitments, grad transfers, transfers with hardship waivers, etc. This time last year, we weren't close to getting Akinjo. This time two years ago, we weren't close to getting Pickett. The increased chaos and flux of NCAA recruiting means that it's nearly constant, and you can land a big recruit at different phases of the game.

Crystal balls pointing to UConn for whatever that’s worth. This is taking some weird turns!

To repeat what trillest just noted, the UConn partisans are despondent with this news. We could certainly accommodate Akok. Not sure about Pitt or any other contenders.

If you don't believe the team is better when he is in then fine. Just know the advanced stats strongly disagree with you. For instance in this game his ORtg was 164 and his DRtg was 80 which is insane. For the year he has the 4th best ORtg/DRtg differential and his DRtg is the lowest on the team. His BPM is 3rd, his PER is 4th and his WS/40 is 4th. Malinowski has played 52 minutes total in scattered appearances off the bench. I'm no advanced analytics guru but don't you have any concerns about sample size issues here?

Not sure if you guys noticed ....but he got torched on defense during the first 10 minutes of the game. I was actually glad when Ewing pulled him. He did improve on D thereafter. He also really needs to work on his shotnselection and three point shot from the small sample size i’ve seen so far. There is no substitute for his energy and fight he brings to the table. His ability to get in the lane is also a game changer for us. Lots of good stuff to look forward to. No, that's actually what I mean. He was having a terrible game early on and the crowd was VERY aware and letting him know. But, he didn't crumble and fought back and delivered some huge plays down the stretch. Not bad for an undersized 3-star prospect in his 3rd college game.

Loved Mac’s mental toughness today. Got burned early, air balled a 3, the rowdy Illinois crowd was all over him every time he touched the ball at that point. He only turned UP his intensity and unleashed some of the most hellaciously good plays of the game, including that steal and reverse dunk that was a body blow to the Illini. Some nice passes too. Ewing’s comments after the game made clear that he is all in on Mac in the backcourt alongside Akinjo and I’m def into it.

Every time I decide which one of these three freshmen I like best, another one rises up to make a crazy play and steal my heart.

I still have no idea what this team’s upside will be, but they are playing with fire and getting contributions from all over. Super fun to watch so far.

LeBlanc can really ball! Haven’t been this fired up for a Hoyas frosh since a certain young man now playing for the Warriors.

Glad to see Pickett sinking jumpers down the stretch here. We need his offense badly this season.

If you’re reading this Will, Georgetown has a sneaky deep list of successful film director alumni: B Coop, Jonathan Nolan, Mike Sucsy, David Yates, Malcolm Lee, Zal Batmanglij, Megan Mylan, Mike Cahill, Carl Reiner...not to mention Mitchell Hurwitz and other “creator” types!
