Bring them to a win Dan!
Provy will be spitting nails after our 2OT win. We have to erase today immediately and get ready for a war.

Today's game would've been great to steal on the road, but this is the game I want to win. A sweep over Providence would be a major step forward for this team. Ed Cooley's teams are always mentally tough, disciplined, and tough defensively. This isn't a remarkable Providence team, but they will go down fighting in every game. I hope our team doesn't get down after today's game. They just have to practice hard and get ready for another. Let's get past the Friars and get back to .500 in the Big East.

As usual, got to match their physicality. Reeves is back for them, but hasn't played more than 11 minutes since the injury. Won last time, but we're going to need a better effort bc i don't know if i can survive another 2OT thriller

Agree...they're against the ropes, and will be fired up and ready...have to match that, but in the end take care of the ball and out shoot them...will be a very tough game..we just have to sustain our play for 40 mns...

Not an easy game...but if we are going to finish in the top 3/4 teams in the conference, we need to sweep a couple of teams. Here is our first chance.

Jessie is gonna be fired up, not sure Provy can stop that and also defend the perimeter.

Definitely appreciate that this game is on a shorter turnaround. Less time for Jessie and Mac to dwell on their poor play, focus has to turn almost immediately to the Friars. I expect to come out with a good gameplan. We need to continue to take care of the basketball like we’ve done the last 2 games, get stops on defense, and REBOUND the freaking basketball.

Providence looked awful against DePaul over the weekend. Also, didn't really sink in until watching the latter part of the game what a piece of sh!t Strus is. Worse than an Italian soccer player.

The Hoyas stats that stand out to me from the previous game are:
- 9 of 29 3pt shots - That's a lot of 3 pointers for a fairly low percentage, 31%. For the season the team is shooting 23.6 per game and hitting at 37.3%. - 17 turnovers. Season average is 13.7. - 9 missed free throws. 19 of 28, 67.9%. Season average is 73.2%. Providence was 16 of 21, 76.2%. - 50 rebounds, vs 45 for Providence - Primary Hoyas contributors were Govan with 33 pts and 14 rb, and Akinjo with 20 pts and 9 assists
So strong play from Govan and Akinjo evened out the poor 3 pt and free throw shooting as well as the excessive turnovers. It then required heroics from McClung and Akinjo to pull it out in the end.
If the general improvement in turnovers continues and the 3 pt shooting is more effective they should be in a a good position for the sweep.

My bad, the typo of games vs game through me. Couldn't figure out if it was average of all the last few Providence games, our last two games in general, or what.

Providence is really struggling to create consistent offense at this point. If the Hoyas can limit turnovers, rebound well and just contest the Friars shots without filing they should be able to outscore them. Providence has some really talented freshman, but they sometime play like freshman and have questionable decisions. Winning in the Dunkin Donuts Center is never easy but the Hoyas should have a good chance this week.

Would hope Patrick can at least outcoach Cooley. He's done a nice job against other poor in-game coaches in the conference like Chris Mullin and Travis Steele.

Limiting turnovers will definitely help. Pickett and Mosely seem to have really improved in that regard. Both guys seem to be playing within themselves more and forcing the ball less. At times we jack up threes early in the shot clock which to me amount to turnovers. Hopefully we can cut back on those as well. I like our chances Wednesday.
