Thinking I may have to head up to Provy and the Dunk. Any plans for a Hoya pre-game?

As of today, Providence is 86 on KenPom and we are 87, so it's a pretty even matchup overall. The "edge" Providence has in KenPom's odds and likely in the Las Vegas line will be from Providence's home court advantage.
Some quick thoughts:
- Providence is a pretty poor shooting team (276 overall). They are poor at shooting threes (33.7% overall, 27.6% in conference) and really bad at twos (46.9%, 280th nationwide, and 45.3% in conference).
- Providence's offense is way worse than ours in conference play (we score 109.4 ppp, they score 95.3 - the worst offense in Big East play).
- Even though Providence has the least efficient offense in Big East play, they have the best defense.
- In conference, Providence is best in forcing turnovers (and steals), best in offensive rebounding but worst in defensive rebounding!

If we play as well defensively as we did vs. Villanova - we will win a lot of games over the next month. That was far and away the best D we have played in a long time, probably going back to the 2015 NCAA Tournament team. Coincidence that it was the game that Govan played the least?

I feel more optimistic about this game after reading these stats. I always feel like the team that scores more easily has an advantage in these match-ups where talent is roughly equal. I wonder if PC is a good offensive rebounding team because they see a lot of zone defense? That is what I wish we could play against them, but I will just take an engaged effort across the board. I think that will be enough. If we are lucky, one of Mac, James or Govan will be hot, and we may be able to just outscore them. No easy task on the road, especially against a coach that has owned us, but there is only one way to put a stop to that.

Gonna be a tough game tomorrow night. Providence will try to slow it down a bit and run a lot of their flex stuff. We have to be physical down low and REBOOUND, they are the 2nd best offensive rebounding team in conference play. Only guy we need to run off the line is Diallo (and Reeves depending on his health and minutes). I expect a good performance in what should be a very motivated Jessie. They don't really have anyone who can match up with him. Limit the live ball turnovers and play with the defensive effort we did Saturday, we'll be in good shape. He has seen the light, Hallelujah brother! The word and the Truth will set you free!!

I think the NCAA chances are pretty simple: 7 more regular season wins gives us a fighting chance, 8 more regular season wins puts us in. Either is a very tall order for this young team, so expectations should be tempered. Disagree. As I stated above, I think if we go 6-3 (in remaining regular season games) and finish with a BE record of 10-8, assuming at least one of our wins is over Marquette or Nova, we have a fighting chance heading into the BET. Of course, we would then need to win at least 1 (likely 2) BET games, and also not get unlucky with how the rest of the bubble landscape plays out... Now, I think 6-3 is a TALL order and while achievable, at this point, is not what we should be concerned with at this time. Let's start with a road win @ Providence, and get (another) winning "streak" going! #InPatWeTrust #Mackinjo #WeAreGeorgetown #HoyaSaxa!

Diallo is the guy to keep under control (and Reeves when in as he's very talented, but may be limited still as far as PT)...but most importantly, we can't let Watson get off with 10-12 early points like he did in first game...obviously, their plan was to go right at Govan so Jesse has to be prepared on D without fouling and return the favor on O by scoring and hopefully getting Watson in foul trouble...

Don't push the opposing player with your private parts 25 feet from the basket, Jessie, and you'll be fine.

Need to be tough against this team and play hard. Nothing easy at the Dunk. Time to bounce back!

If we win 6 regular season games, I agree with you we likely need 2 BE wins to get in. If we win 7 regular season games, we have a shot, but would feel safer with 1 BE win too. If we win 8 regular season games, we’re in.

This is also a key game for avoiding the first day of the BET. Given how closely together the Big East is currently grouped, winning this game would go a long way toward finishing somewhere in the 3-6 range.

Need to get this win. Limit the turnovers and limit second chances with strong, aggressive defensive rebounding and we win this game.

Winning the next 2 are huge to retain hope of a .500+ conference regular season. There is a massive gap between 4-7 and 6-5 in this league, especially knowing that we are at SHU, Nova, at Creighton in the following 3.
Let's start by getting this one tonight! HOYA SAXA!!!
