Visited yesterday... I follow his trainer on twitter, he's always in the gym and has a really strong support system behind him. Lunch pail big. Self starter... www.prephoops.com/2018/08/recruiting-report-qudus-wahab-2019/Qudus Wahab, a class of 2019 center at Flint Hill, broke out on the Under Armour circuit while playing with We R1 this summer. The 6-foot-11 rising senior consistently demonstrated high level shot blocking and altering abilities to go along with a tireless motor and a steadily improving offensive skill set. Wahab has seen his recruitment expand as a result. LSU, Ohio State, Georgetown and Miami are among a handful of high majors who he’s received offers from since June. During a recent interview with Prep Hoops, Wahab hinted that he will soon reveal a list with his current top 12 schools. PH: What was the biggest thing you learned this summer playing with We R1? QW: “This year with We R1, I learned how to be a better team player. I learned how to be a winner and the style of play of the team helped me improve my game.” PH: What’s the most underrated part of your game? QW: “The most underrated part of my game is my offense. I can step out and shoot the 3. My mid range shot is pretty good too.” PH: How are your grades? QW: “My grades are looking good right now. My GPA is a little over 3.0 right now. I look forward to making it better this school year.” PH: Which schools are recruiting you the hardest right now? QW: “Sometime this week or next week, I will release a list with my top 12 schools. Those are the schools recruiting me hardest.” PH: What do schools tell you they like about you? QW: “Schools tell me they like my energy and effort. My ability to finish strong, protect the rim, block shots. And how quickly I run the floor.” PH: What are you working on? QW: “I am working on all parts of my game. My face up game. Jump shot; back to the basket. Just trying to be a good all-around player.” PH: Which schools are trying to get you on campus? QW: “All the schools that is recruiting me hard wants me to visit. I am also planning of taking some unofficials this month.”

Seems like our guy... He could spend a yr backing up Yurtseven. Ranked somewhere around #90-105. Right were we should be looking for players.

I believe that we ought to push to close on Qudus, especially if the interest is there on his part and his family is local...seems to have defensive/shot blocking ability and developing offensive skills including some range on his jump shot...seems like he has the work ethic that would enable Patrick to develop him significantly over a few years...

Since the July evaluation period ended, Wahab has visited VCU, Temple and Georgetown. Wahab has no plans on stopping as he plans to visit UConn on Aug. 19, Ohio State on Aug. 25, Pitt on Aug. 26 and Syracuse on Sept. 8.

I believe he has crazy defensive potential, we just need to close the deal.

Is he at the same stage of development as Govan as a HS senior?

Govan was probably head of him offensively. Wahab has the advantage in defense.

I have only seen a handful of highlights for this player, but I Like him more than Wilson. Just seems to be a more dynamic athlete (but maybe he just has some one doing a great job on his highlights!!!) I think both guys need development and will have a year to grow while Yurt plays next year. They need to close one of them and hopefully soon so they can focus on the other pieces they need for this '19 class. Hopefully they can add either Oscar or Stewart and then a SG and SF who can both really shoot the ball.
