Uh, these are just predictions, right?
There are only a limited number of minutes to go around and only five players can play at once (at least according to the rules). I don't think anyone here is dissing Thornton at all.

As far as Cook goes, I tend to think his ball-handling (which is better than DJ's, but not stellar) gets him the starting nod as well as more minutes. DJ is a nice shooter, but I'm not sure he has shown the ability to consistently handle the ball well and create his own shot. To me, he is more of a catch and shoot off a screen type of a player. Ashanti gives us a more well-rounded game, I think, to include ball handling when facing a press. I would not want JW and DJ in against a pressing team. I think Ashanti is an asset in that situation, at least.

I just don't see Sead playing all that much again this year in a "give the starters a rest" role. I think JTIII would, barring fouls, rather see a (very) tired Jeff and Brandon play than a (really) rested Sead. If this was not the case, I think we would have seen Sead a lot more last year b/c there were many instances where the starters seemed to be dragging a bit due to fatigue.

I hope that Green and Bowman only have to play 30 minutes each, but I think the 15 minutes not accounted for on that chart (to get to 200 minutes) will go to them. But, hopefully we can get them more rest this year so they are strong down the stretch.

Should we be talking about who starts, anyway? Unless "starting" also means getting more playing time in general, maybe it doesn't matter. Roy started a lot games at the beginning of the year but didn't necessarily get a whole bunch of playing time.
I'm interested in who will be playing for how long and who will be in the game when the score is not 0-0 with 40 minutes left. Who's on the floor when it's tied at 60 and there are two minutes left? I guess it depends on match-ups, fouls, etc, but this seems to be the more imporant question.

Take the political stuff to another board...we come here to get a brief respite from the real world.

I think that this forum has concluded that, no, he does not actually watch any games...including the ones he is calling for TV.

Hoya Blue = the best thing to happen to GU sports in a long time...seriously.
Generation Iverson didn't have anything like it, but I wish they had something similar in those days. Good luck and see you ALL at MCI.

WBH must have eagle eyesight or something b/c I went right by that. I saw the basketballs, noted them, and moved on. Thank goodness for the sharp eyes on this board - always on the lookout for cool Hoyas stuff!

The best thing that could happen is happening: these other boards are insulting us, disrepecting us, making up excuses for our recruiting successes, trashing our players and coaches, etc.
This shows that we are at least relevent or heading in that direction. It's when other boards stop talking about us that we should be nervous.
Keep the trash coming, UMD, UNC, Wake, etc. We'll take it out.

Is anyone else worried that our guard situation doesn't look that strong for the immediate future? Having seen this year's freshmen play (albeit in Kenner), I'm not too high on these guys. But, hopefully that's because of the Kenner environment, they haven't been coached up yet by JTIII, etc.
What does everyone think of the position mix that we are recruiting? I guess the thinking is that there is no need to recruit a true point guard until after JW graduates. Is Rivers a point guard option?

Oh, you had to bring THAT up again...I thought I was over that. Bad memories of what could have been. Oh well, we played well that game to say the least. We'll get them and others this year...

I remember that the entire (not an exaggeration) upper bowl was filled with Duke fans. Also, a decent amount were in the club level. GU, did however, do a good job of keeping the lower bowl full of Hoya fans.

According the Vitale, every D.1 head bball coach is a great leader. And every player is a PTP'er and every freshman is a whatever he calls them. His schtick is so old; it's truly amazing he ever made it as a lead basketball "analyst" on TV. His attempt at analysis is to scream "freeze it" to the producer in the truck so he can show how great Sheldon Williams posts up or how great JJ's follow through is. Thanks, Dick, nice value add there. Do any TV viewers actually enjoy his analysis?

"Hate it or Love it" by The Game (f. 50 Cent) could work...however, it's a bit old and the Hoyas usually try to be up on current hip-hop tunes for their warm-ups. The lyrics may be fitting..."Hate it or love it, underdog's on top..." Or, are we not underdogs? Whatever.

I believe "money" in this case is an adjective for very good or great (see "Swingers"). You're so money and you don't even know it, etc.

Yeah, that's "what's a Hoya" line is knee-slapper.
You'd think they'd come up with something a little better or original or funny. Maybe when we start to win consistently again we will engender more ridicule. Hopefully.
