espn.go.com/dickvitale/vcolumn050822-UConn.htmlI like this quote by Vitale: Then came news that had to shock Calhoun. The Hall of Famer has always reminded his players about being solid student-athletes and taking responsibility for their actions

What evidence does Dickie V have to support this statement? C'mon, this is just ree-dick-U-luss. Dickie V is a has been coach, relentless suck up, and a moron. Even his "enthusiasm", just grates on me. I think bball is great, Dickie is such a phony.

"Calhoun is one of the great leaders in college basketball. "
I guess when you take $$$ that you're not supposed to take, "borrowing" laptops that don't technically belong to you is not that much of a stretch.

According the Vitale, every D.1 head bball coach is a great leader. And every player is a PTP'er and every freshman is a whatever he calls them. His schtick is so old; it's truly amazing he ever made it as a lead basketball "analyst" on TV. His attempt at analysis is to scream "freeze it" to the producer in the truck so he can show how great Sheldon Williams posts up or how great JJ's follow through is. Thanks, Dick, nice value add there. Do any TV viewers actually enjoy his analysis?

It's difficult for Duke Vitale to criticize other coaches, no matter how obvious the issue. Case in point, during the Patrick Dennehy tragedy at Baylor: "Having known Dave Bliss a long time, his heart has always been in the right place. " espn.go.com/dickvitale/030809baylorbliss.html

Vitale is about sports entertainment, not sports. If you consider him as an entertainer, he is not awful. As an announcer/analyst, he is awful.

I can't wait until Duke gets busted for paying players and then see how he reacts.

Do you really think Duke pays? I don't think that is true. I hate Duke, but I just think that is crazy. I would love to see Duke have some problems, but I don't think Coach K is paying to play.

He's too smart. He gets their parents high paying jobs they are totally unqualified for in the Durham area, then lets the parents supply the kids with the money, cars, etc.

If only Jimmy had recruited Gomes... ...all this never would have happened!

I agree with SF. Payment is made through other channels so it isn't as dirty but lets be realistic, the boys get paid! I hope Vitale is at the Duke/Hoyas game as I think we need some anti-vitale cheer.
