Some of my fondest memories of the Hoyas are hearing that bamafied fake-dancehall anthem blast over the speakers at the Cap Center during the Iverson days. The team had a swagger back them that I would like to see return, and I feel that the warm-up song was no small part of it.
Any suggestions would be welcome.

Also perhaps "Unity" by Rick James, and they could play part of the Chapelle skit on the screen while warm-ups were going on. That would be incredible.

You guys play in the Go-Go Capital of the World!!! You can never go wrong with some classic Rare Essence or Chuck Brown.
Eric B. & Rakim's "You Know I Got Soul" is pretty F-R-E-S-H also.
At A&T, we were lucky to have a pretty good, and pretty large pep band, so they handled the pre-game music.
But there was a period of time during my tenure that the D.J. from the school station would put together a "mix-tape" for the pre-game warm-ups, and it was quite excellent!!! This guy mixed "Roxanne, Roxanne" by UTFO with "Lock-It" by Rare Essence...quite incredible...
I bet if someone ran the idea by FLEXX at 95.5, he could probably put something together. And if he wanted to charge you guys, you could always get a good amateur D.J. to put together something for the warm-ups...

Well, Hotstepper was indeed nice, but -- and it shames me to no end to admit this, since it goes against all I hold to dear and true in this world -- I actually liked that O.D.B. remix of Mariah Carey's "Fantasy" they played in Iverson's sophomore year.
I actually went out and bought that CD single (possibly while drunk). Not sure whatever happened to that, I may have thrown it out the window in tears after the 96 BE championship game.
Hey, I am under no illusions that the team will come out to, say, Monkeywrench by the Foo Fighters, Supernova by Liz Phair, Gigantic by The Pixies, or (what the hell) Far Gone and Out by The Jesus & Mary Chain. I am virtually certain that I will not know the song they choose, whatever it is. As long as it's something that gets them fired up, that's all that matters to me.
But as long as I'm fantasizing over here, if they want a song for gearing up to a fight, everyone I know who's been in Iraq & Afghanistan (and anyone who's seen Black Hawk Down) will tell you there is only one choice: Falling to Pieces, Faith No More. Oddly enough, none of them see it as bad luck, they all seem to love it.

If not Journey maybe we could have those people with all those instrument things sitting on the sidelines to actually play during warmups like at every other college. I think they are called the band.

Actually, just about anything off of "The Real Thing" by Faith No More fits into that category, IMO, including the instrumental, Woodpecker From Mars, which has always been one of my favorites.

I forgot that they used the remix of "Fantasy." There is no shame in liking that song, Boz. Perhaps we should use that as an homage to our departed comrade, ODB.

I still think of the Iverson years whenever I hear Hotstepper -- I'd love to see them use it to bridge the current team to the (last real) years of glory! A 2005 remix would be cool -- I am sure that Ini Kamoze needs the work . . . .
That, or Dream Weaver by Gary Wright -- that'll get them going!!
/kidding about Dream Weaver //not kidding about Hotstepper!!!

I'm not sure that Ini Kamoze does need the work. From above:

I think they are called the band. For clarification, the Pep Band is limited to only a couple portions of the pre-game time to preform. I know they have been fighting the powers that be in our Athletic department for years for the right to do what they are at the game to do. But sadly, a certain someone would rather listen to some outdated Murphy Lee.

Hotstepper was clearly the best from the Iverson era and anytime after that. You could not help to get fired up when that song started playing. Fantasy, on the other hand, was embarrassing to come out to. And yes, I bought the single too. Only Space Jam would have been more embarrassing.
The more I think about it, I would almost change my vote from current hip hop song to Hotstepper.

If you can get the instrumental version to 50 Cent's "In Da Club", that would be pretty sweet...

"Hate it or Love it" by The Game (f. 50 Cent) could work...however, it's a bit old and the Hoyas usually try to be up on current hip-hop tunes for their warm-ups. The lyrics may be fitting..."Hate it or love it, underdog's on top..." Or, are we not underdogs? Whatever.

The good thing about Hotstepper was that it got you pumped up, but (unlike many other songs one might listen to to get fired up) you could play it an a "family" atmosphere.
If that (being family friendly) was not a concern, I'd go with "Fight Music" by D12. Because it is, I'm sticking with Hotstepper.
