The amazing thing is that he'll do so much more off the court than he ever did on the court...and that's a great thing.

I give every year and still get a phone call...every year, at least. Once they just called to say "thanks."

Yeah, what a successful follow-up to Cracked Rearview! Strange names for albums...
I did some research and found out that their new album, "Looking for Lucky" was just released. It sold 12 copies on the day it was released.

I wonder how many of the new undergrads even know who/what Hootie is!?! Are they still together?

AH is rebounding. No doubt in my mind. We need to improve on this big time. But, what schools don't have an AH? Kind of a strange statement to make.

From what I saw last year, seeing him play a few times, he isn't that bad, but seems to have an attitude problem. Perfect fit!

Thanks for re-posting that quote from JTIII. Re-reading it a year and a half later is very interesting.
It's amazing to think how far the program has come in such a short amount of time - hopefully we can continue to upward climb.

I guess we won't know until the real games start, but from seeing Tyler last year and seeing Marc in Kenner this year, it is clear to me that Marc has more pure talent (not to take anything away from Crawford). From what I can tell, his shooting is smoother and his body is more developed. They both like to mix it up, but I from what I have seen Marc has better offensive instincts and is more of a true scorer as opposed to a scapper.
Crawford has the same strong intangibles, but seems to be more of a defensive stopper and rebounder (as opposed to scorer).
It will be interesting to see these two progress this year.

Good reviews. Just a few more impressions...
1. I hate to be so harsh, but Edge disappeared for long stretches. It's kind of strange because I felt like he could have asserted himself and taken it to the rack and at least picked up some fouls. Should be good to get him coached up a bit in the system. I think he has enormous talent and hopefully will be an impact player this year. 2. Jeff - again hate to be negative, but his outside shot has not been falling at all. It seems like last year he would make a lot of important threes, so maybe he just steps up when they are needed in "real" games. Also, I hope to see him more assertive that he has been in Kenner. He, too, could be taking it inside almost every time and trying to draw a foul. Instead, he seemed to stop a few feet from the basket and take off balance shots. That he didn't dominate (even with Roy standing in the way) is surprising, given his talent, strength, etc. 3. It was nice to see JTII sitting in his usual spot. GU players took turn sitting next to him - Jeff, then Marc, etc. 4. Ashanti - I echo other comments. I can't seem to get a read on him. And he's a senior! He'll be in control and nailing sweet jumpers one second and then dribbling off his foot in traffic and making questionable decisions the next.

I agree - and I'm one of the posters not letting the issue go. I apologize. Let's move on.

He put up some awesome numbers, didn't he? Amazing. And very consistent, for the most part.

Sounds like a Prince-town match!! Offense running through him at the foul line!? Jeff Green anyone?! Sweet.

Where can one get those Nodak masterpieces nowadays?
I downloaded them all once, but for some reason my Itunes did not keep them all. Only the ones I transferred to my IPod are still with me - the others are lost. I need to find the lost Nodak songs! Any help?

That all the horrible things - players transferring, players fighting with one another, players not qualifying, players seemingly not being ready to play in critical game-ending situations, losing games against any team of consequence, not altering end-game strategy even when it became painfully obvious that what he was doing was not working, etc. - happened while he was the coach cannot be seen as a horrible, historic, unlucky coincidence. All these things happened on his watch because he was in charge and therefore responsbile. He was the captain and he created the Perfect Storm by himself. The problem was that he had no ability to right the ship.
Esh was not an innocent bystander in all of this - he was the head coach, and as such much must take the blame. To portray him as an innocent victim of ALL THESE BAD THINGS is crazy. Where's the accountability? How long was this going to be acceptable? For as long as he wanted to be coach?
Rather, I say he was a bystander. Standing idling by as the program crumbled, and not having the guts or backbone to take any of the blame. It seems that Esh's feeling of entitlement made him so content to sit back and NOT TRY ANYTHING NEW to fix anything. And there was plenty that was broken and needed to be fixed. He clearly was not interested in exerting the effort to make things better. He was coasting along and time finally ran out.

I still don't understand...what do you think GU's rationale was for firing him? Why did they do it?
Also, I don't really dispute Esh's recruiting. It was what happened on the court that I take issue with.

I hate to keep discussing these issues, but here I go, quickly...
The fact that Esh averaged 19 wins pers year or whatever is irrelevant. The scheduling was pathetic - and even the most ardent Esh supporters cannot with a straight face argue that point. It almost seemed that he was scheduling in order to be able to say just that: "Look at my track record...I averaged 19 wins per season...." But, if one looks close, or looks at all, actually, these numbers are misleading. These are not quality wins.
If we only had one year of "doldrums" then why would GU fire him? GU is known for being very faithful to coaches, even during rough times. The fact that GU axed him virtually proves that he had a track record (not just one year) of overseeing a program in the "doldrums."
If the program was not in a shambles, why was he was fired? Alumni pressure, public outcry? What's the reason? The Administration also thought the program was broken but they were wrong?

I also wish we could get more non-break games (OOC and Big East). I guess JTIII just couldn't pull this particular one off with all the factors involved: MCI schedule, the opponent's schedule, etc. Playing this one during T-giving break certainly beats playing a MEAC team the first week of December when students would be around. Although I do agree that is stinks for the current undergrads.

Is there room in McD for the hall of fame? I guess the foyer is pretty full, but maybe they can find a little space in there for a plaque of the HOF names or something.
