In general, I'm a big proponent of pressing if a team has the personnel to do it. One thing I fear on this team, though, is when we press and our opponents beat the press. This leaves either Roy or Jeff (most likely) under our hoop facing a two or three on one. This is where either easy baskets are given up or fouls are picked up. And, we all know that we cannot have Roy and/or Jeff in foul trouble too often.

UCLA will always be a step up from Pitt - always and forever.
I don't think one can look at a program's current status only. Using that as a gauge, was GU (bottom feeding Big East team) a step down from Princeton (very successful Ivy)?

Isn't it nice to be talking about ways to keep a coach rather than ways to get rid of one?? What a difference!

Does anybody have a sense as to how long JTIII plans on being here?
Is he using this as a springboard to another college program? Some high profile ACC or Big East school? Make his mark by bringing us back to the top and then move on to another program? I hope not.

For some reason, Green does not seem any bigger to me. Maybe its the way the kenner uniform fits him or that I'm farther away than I am at MCI. Either way, he seems the same to me...both height and muscle-wise.
Roy looks stronger, though. He had farther to come so maybe that's why the change is more apparent.

Quick player recap:
Sapp - Athletic. Had a few nice drives to the hoop and a few blocked shots where he really skyed. Probably been said before, but he reminds me a lot of Demetrius. Same body type, same athleticism, etc. Made a three or two, I believe.
Thornton - Not very active. Good ball handling. Didn't shoot that much. Seemed in control, which is good.
Wallace - Didn't seem to play that much. Pretty steady overall.
Green - Good game. Didn't force anything offensively. I hope that once real play starts he will assert himself more on the offensive end with more one on one moves. Side note: Kenner league refs are terrible. Green's fifth foul was called when he was boxing his guy out below the basket. Green couldn't believe it.
Ewing - Flashed some good offensive skills. Put back dunks, etc. Most impressive I think was a quick catch and shoot from the foul line where he sunk the shot and was fouled. Nice rebouding.
Edge - Active. Nice moves in traffic to the hoop. Seems to like to bang like he's three or four inches taller than he is. Seems to have a lot of desire and wants to get to the basket.
Spann - Not much to report on.

Good job! One thing: you should've worked in an impromptu rap homage to the Hoyas. A shout out to the guys would have been fresh!

Where would the re-constituted pub go? That's the most important part, isn't it? That's what's missing from campus.
Pre-pub: Hoya Paranoia. Post-pub: not so much. Coincidence?

Before we would have to worry about accomodating 15-20K people traffic-wise we would have to actually be able to attract that many people - not happening any time soon, or really ever if recent past figures are any indication. I don't see any sense in GU even wanting an arena that big.
I think the original poster may have added an extra zero on the end of the figures he heard.

The MCI Center is basically on the GU Law Center campus (a few blocks away, at least).
From a location stand point, wasn't the point to get these games closer the undergrads?

I thought the source was W. Mark Felt, actually.
Not sure that many seats would fit anywhere on campus.

Brick mentioned the blue and gray at the Hoop Club meeting last year. It was his first order of business.

I guess there really aren't any out of conference home games this year.

I vowed to not get involved, but I have to speak up - briefly. As a person who personally sat through Esh's end of game management way too often, I can say that it was atrocious at least 80% of the time (and that's generous). Two games come to mind (vs. UConn - no directive to foul, and ND - 4 chances to win, same "play" used 4 times, 4 failures).
Can anyone name an end of game scenerio where he outcoached the other team? Nat Burton did that by himself when it seems that there was no play called (and don't tell me that was the play). Sure, Braswell hit some game winning threes, but how many times did he miss those - a lot more times than he made them.

I will never understand why Esherick is so beyond reproach to many on this board. Most (if not all) of the ridicule is geared toward his coaching "abilities," his perceived arrogance towards everything from the media to the NIT tourney, and other specific incidents such as his Sweetney rant. I could continue, but it's not worth it. We have moved on. He has moved on. We are all better for it, I think.
